If you in my case, 100% world map, dungeons done, etc… Next step is grind for the good gear or beg for a party for fractals in LA.

Honestly if your not level 80, it’s almost impossible to grind, unless your using the word grind in a new manner we don’t know about. Grinding means literally doing the same thing over and over like killing the same mobs. The events and heart quests are so varied.

oh sorry. I’m level 80, but I don’t really want to grind for anything. Just something small, like a cool area to hang out in or something

If you are level 80 and you are a crafter gatherer then that’s all there is is a grind I know OP because drops are outrageously low.

But who needs to grind right when you can spend $50 in the gem store……

Just run around the world doing events. Or you can do all the dungeon paths one after another. You can also do the JP’s and mini dungeons. 100% world completion isn’t grindy if you like exploring.

Dungeons definitly. Don’t join any “farming paries” though, that will ruin the experience. Start with Ascalon Catacombs

If you do dungeons you will probably inadvertently get paired with people “farming”
You can run around the world getting 100% map completion if that’s your kinda thing.
You can unplug your monitor also and play “blind” if that’s your idea of fun. But generally to answer your question.

“Not bloody much.”

Irony…. xD

I’m doing the jumping puzzles and the explorer achievements (Windy Tunnel etc. not map exploration) that are in your character achievement section.

I’d have something to punch nearby like a pillow when doing the Chaos Crystal Cavern though

I hit 80 about 3 weeks after release and I’m still finding different things to do.

Finding the mini-dungeons (I actually like these better than the s +xDungeons). Some have very cool event chains to open them.

Dragon events. I use the website with the timers on it, always tons of people and tons of fun going to those.

Zho’qafa Tombs event in Straits of Devastation – there’s a chance at a super rare staff, the Final Rest. It’s a fun event also. I go there every couple days to see if I can pick up the trail of the event chain, I’ve found them dead in the swamp and dead in the tombs. Grab a couple guildies and round out with people on the map and we’re off!

Go Skritt Burglar chasing. Did this today, me and a couple guildies went map hopping to all the Skritt chest locations and chased that bugger all over Tyria.

Fractals. Love this dungeon. Only made it to level 10 so far, I don’t feel “driven” to go super high but it’s really fun.

Strike up random conversations with people. There were 3 Charr sitting on the bank steps, I went up and said they looked hungry and asked if they wanted a snack. They agreed that a snack would be tasty so I pulled out my Skritt pet. Hilarity ensued, they tried to BBQ the poor critter.

Teach people how to synch dance and dance with their weapons.

Do the Troll’s End jump puzzle in LA and offer portals to the chest. Give people tours of the jump puzzles in LA if they haven’t seen them and are interested.

Go to just about every event anyone in my guild links.

Scrimmage in WvW jump puzzles.

Halfway serious, halfway not working towards a legendary. Throw greens I get from events in the forge to get rares.

Try exploring; there’s little areas in some zones that are hidden, and you have to explore to find them. I think you might find it quite fun actually, if you have nothing else to do.
If you’ve already done all that, then just wait for the up-coming event or do various dungeons, or complete the jumping puzzles if you haven’t already. I also find helping the new players kinda fun.

Make an alt and follow story paths you haven’t done before.

Not worth it, since you’ll still be grinding level to be able to do the quests. Storyline in this game is like 10% of the pve, sadly.

Ok, if you are after a little cash, you can run around the 4 high level maps gathering ori, ancient wood, rasberries/omnomberries, etc. 1 round trip can net you just over 1G in TP sales.

Or if gathering isn’t your style, you can help out lower guild members, try jumping puzzles, look at the achievements you havent done and work out how to do them (some are grindy) using google for help if need be.

But apart from that, and WvW, the rest is pretty much grind. Dungeons over and over, events over and over, etc etc.

For variety level a couple of different classes. While you may do the same things, the way you play them will be different for each character. Also more characters means more coin if you do the gathering run with each of them before you sit down and get stuck into the game.

Everything in every MMO is basically a grind. It’s just disguised in different superficial ways. There’s always a treadmill style progression at work and GW2 is no different.

The only MMOs that never did this were Ultima Online and, subsequently, Darkfall and Mortal (both of which were heavily inspired by UO).

Oh yeah, that was fun.

But yeah, general RPing or even just dropping in to listen to RP sessions is a very good way of extending your game experience.

The people who say there’s bloody nothing to do at 80 are honestly a little narrow in their thinking. The game is what you make it. If your only goal is to do something finite (having a definitive end, such as reaching level 80, getting exotic/legendary gear), then yes, there is bloody nothing for you to do once you attain those goals. Honestly, put down the game for a while and move on to something else. Nothing is keeping you here and you won’t be left behind in the dust with any changes that happen while you’re gone.

Please don’t interpret that as antagonism, I do sincerely mean that you are free to leave, and we’ll miss you. But this game actually gives you the freedom to come back without any penalties.

At any rate, if your goals are more open-ended (such as social ones like playing with friends, making friends, or RPing), then you’ll have a much more enjoyable experience post-80 because then the games not about stuff or stats; it’s about the people you play with.

To make a long story short:
You make the game what you want it to be at 80. If you really feel there’s nothing left for you, then take a break for a while. You’re free to return for events or anything at a later date without being punished.

I recommend trying the explorer achievements for treasure chests, there’s a nice mini dungeon in dredgehaunt cliffs, or jump puzzles.

Explore. There’s quite a bit of dialogue and story that is easy to miss when you first run through. Most areas have quite a bit going on.

Go looking for or look up online the Jumping Puzzles. I find its an interesting diversion.
Shift your build around. Use weapons you haven’t used before, and change your traits. Makes an old character feel a bit fresher.

Just start running in a direction, and see what you find.
