yea i just got this game and im currently downloading it what class should i play

Mesmer is my favorite so it’s what I always recommend.

The best thing to do would be make a each profession and try them in the mist.

i main a necro but try all the classes first for a bit and see which one appeals to your playstyle.

Start with an easy all-rounder class like guardian or warrior, after you learn the basics try the all other classes, you have enough slots

You should tell of yourself what style you like: evil, nice, summoning something, pets etc.

As it stands now, you could also ask what’s your favourite food and we have to guess what it is.

im looking at the engineer how is he ?

I love all of them because they all have their good points.
To start with though, I’d recommend warrior, ranger or necromancer, just to get into the combat system and how it’s designed to work, these professions are the least squishiest and are easy to learn.

My personal favourites though, are my first character which is my Mesmer, and my Thief.

Engineers are great but can be a lot to take on with the kit swap mechanic, fantastic as full damage or condition.

I’ve been playing the same two classes since beta. choose what you think looks and feels cool.

engi turrets are awful. its all about kits.

Turrets are mediocre in PvE, and barely viable in PvP anymore, they’re fun though.

Pet class, I would avoid that until the expansion comes out. The pet AI is meh. Now if you’re doing pvp, necro with minions/pets is very good but not in pve. If I was you in would start off as a guardian, and then from playing with other people you’ll see all the classes and be able to choose from there. Personally, elementalist mesmer and necro are my favs. Thief is very fun and strong, ranger is solid to start with as well. Warrior is the easiest class to play and very very good for all content

I tried everything when I first started. I didn’t want to invest in a main that didn’t play how I wanted to. I’d suggest going through tutorial real quick and jumping over to the PVP lobby.

Test the weapon kits out on the dummies and see what you enjoy. No matter what people suggest . .. . their playstyle could be completely opposite of your own.

And remember it doesn’t matter how “op” something is if you’re falling asleep playing it because you’re just that bored XD
