what happened to the Dye drops
I was wondering the same thing. I got ONE drop in almost 2 weeks.
Was “Chocolate Dye”.
Anet messed up the droprates a while back, making dye’s drop ay more then they should.
They fixed it but somehow i think they didn’t reset it to the original droprates.
Think positive tho, when you do get one now you can sell it for 5x more then wat they used to be.

More like “what happened to drops”. I just started counting in Orr. Six veterans, four dropped nothing, two dropped junk. In an hour of playing I barely even filled one 10 slot bag with drops aside from gathering nodes. One green, three or four blues, two or three whites and a small number of salvages.
I don’t think I’m getting any less dyes compared to anything else I ever got, I just think I’m getting “less” period.
This is the new grindprogress policy. Grind as much as you can….everywhere. I remember someone important once said: “We dont intend to make a grindy game!”. Funny statement….
I have recently started a new character and leveled to 32 and i have received one or two dye drops in that time.
queue kitten thats going to tell me “oh i get plenty of dyes”
And we needed a new post about this to start a new q!!!!!
i remember getting up to 2 dyes at a time from carrots and other plants and the gem trades was murderized they got almost tripled from 50 silver for 100 gems to 1gold 61 silver.
i have been getting more dyes from plant nodes than from mob drops,
the other day i got a Mushroom Dye from some Button Mushrooms.
i should have sold it Unidentified. :p
Must be an attempt to get people using MF gear since that works so well….
Wait for it.
What happened to dye drops is that they are random.
Yesterday I got two rare ones with my level 20 Asura Ele.
Today I got 2 uncommon with my level 4 human guardian during the same personal story mission and a common with the said level 20 Asura.
I get at least 2-3 a day, though I do play a lot. I don’t play particularly ‘hard’, and my main spends a lot of time playing in lower level areas gathering materials for my other characters, and generally just enjoying lower level zones. I had heard once that you chances to get dyes as drops increased playing in lower level zones. Maybe there is something to that?
I don’t have any magic find to speak of, though I ‘might’ have an odd ring or accessory that has a small amount because of a stone inserted in them, or something like that. I don’t have a ‘conscious’ set of magic find gear, and don’t use magic find food.
I was loitering in Queensdale with my 58th level Ranger within the past hour and picked up another one.
Queensdale is fast becoming Dye Land
Sadly, this along with every other money making nerf is just more
incentive for people to buy gold (which I oppose).
GW2 boast of a game in where you can casually play it, which is true,
but the reality of it is its very hard for the average player to make money
in the game and the costs gear is up 2-3 times where it was a month ago.
The more dye that drops in game the less dye you will buy from Black Lion.
I wish my dye acquisition karma (karma-karma; not game-karma) would rub off on my ability to acquire crafting materials like ‘bone shards’ and the like. Those all seem like a nightmare to get.
The only reason I have 37,672 [<- Hyperbole TM] dye colors is all the time I’m sitting out there trying to get 8 bones to make, say, a green shirt.
’Mer’ca!
I made it past 30 on my Engineer before seeing a dye drop on that character.
I was enjoying the increased drop rate that they “fixed.” I like collecting the colors on various characters. I have never sold an Unidentified Dye that I can remember. I must know what color it is, I must I must.
My characters think I’m crazy.

It’s worse then just the dyes when they put in this patch to change the loot ratio it made the horrible drop rate they started a month ago even worse. Now nothing really drops in open world most of the time. Tons of people having the same issues. Just look at the TP prices.
