no, it shows anywhere, and once its gone the only way for it to reappear is teleporting or reloging, moving away from the spot where it vanish doesnt make it reappear
Well you answered your own question lol. It’s a ghost ship. Most likely haunted! Maybe a dev put in there to spook people
I’d like to say it is a ghostly version of the Golden Vanity (poi right there) Wiki link is here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Wreck_of_the_Golden_Vanity. The reason I made this connection is because an event occurs on the docs just east of the ship, before this event occurs the waters around the ship become rapid like. This event is about exploring the wreck of the Golden Vanity, wiki link for npc is http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Help_Explorer_Laci_find_an_Orrian_power_orb_in_the_wreck_of_the_Golden_Vanity.
It would make sense that this ship in particular has a ghostly echo, because it has an orrian power orb (not sure what it is except powerful energy of some type) in the wreckage.
This is just my speculation.
I had similar thing happen the other day in LA but with a super adventure box monkey…
I was running around exploring the new design, out in the middle of no where I found a super monkey holding the clash symbols, I ran up to it, it started bashing it’s symbols then vanished.
I assume another SAB will be coming up shortly due to my experience, maybe your ship has something to do with “delivering the patch/goodies” or has relevance of sort to an upcoming Living Story
….. And Elementalist.
Its just a game rendering issue of sorts. This happens with a variety of objects in the game. For example the Captains Airship in Gendarren will pop in and out a view at a specific distances, of which you can experiment for yourself. In a similar vein, the same can even be said on the “hidden” Aetherblade airship on the map too(or the mountain that hides it, that is). There’s plenty of other examples that I can’t think off since this is not new to me.
You’ll notice it alot in the game if you pay greater attention to detail while you faceroll PvE mobs, lol.
