where can i report a hacker?
In-game report tool, under botting. (It is the option used until a proper one comes)
I can’t speak to tools. I can tell you that using the ‘botter’ option is indeed sufficient.
As for the exploits are ANet address, this isn’t a Customer Support address. Exploits is more of a ‘I found a way to cheat here’s how to do it’ thing and Quality Assurance reviews those.
GMs don’t belong to a server so wondering if you’re server has a GM is futile. We’re everywhere >=).
What Lazaar said.
There was also some discussion about including a “report hacker” option, but nothing was offically said that it was going to happen.

is it only possible to report by right clicking on their name and doing it that way? since im not able to find it
Yep. Thats the only way to do it currently

If you know his character/account name, you can add him to your friends list/block list and then right-click to report him there.
If you want to have your report to have more weight behind it though, make a support ticket and explain what happened, time, area and character/account names involved. Attach screenshots too. You can access support at the top of the page.

In my experience, all that will do is net you a message telling you to use the in game report tool.
You can also email them at exploits@arena.net
You can also email them at exploits@arena.net
That email is for reporting an exploit, not an exploiter.

Well wouldn’t an exploiter be using an exploit in order to be an exploiter?

To further clarify – exploits@arena.net is not used for reviewing reports of cheaters. This is for notifying us of found exploits so that QA can work on reporting fixes.
Well this is a bit awkward as we have always been told by the mods and whatnot to report hackers that way as there was no hacking report option in the in game tool. I guess this explains why none of the reported people got banned then if it’s not their job to do that in the first place. Thank you for clarifying this! I have one question tho, if one happens to have video footage of someone doing some sort of naughty business, should we send it in via normal ticket or just rely on the “botting” report to do the thing instead?
In-game for botting is always the right way to go. This is (generic, I understand) a report that a GM sees and responds to by going into the game. I am looking at new ways to let players report but I’m going to need a few days to poke holes in my methods.

Using the botting report is always the best way. Michael discusses it at more length in the linked thread.

Yes, but it is typically not their job to take action on it. In-game reports notify GMs that are in-game.

true, but that is for things like bugs, and broken maps that allow players to do things they normally couldn’t do. Using a hacking program to fly for example isn’t exactly an exploit.
Just use the botting option and it will summon a GM to the scene. (although you probably won’t see them.)

I believe an exploit is part of the game that is being used outside the intentions of the developer (e.g. glitching onto/around a wall to avoid an enemy and to be able to kill it easily). So yes, in this instance you can provide information to A-net on how to reduce the likelihood of this being used exploitatively. It prevents all exploiters from continuing this behaviour… which imo is better than targetting one offender.
A “hacker” (or botter), by my understanding, is somebody who uses 3rd party software to alter the game to give them an unfair advantage. In this instance it is better to target the offender as A-net can’t do much about preventing 3rd party software.

Meh. I’ve seen Anet refer to that email address for both exploits and hackers.
thanks for all the help i have now sent a report and hopefully he gets banned

I love that sentence, so, to agree…
If you report the exploiter, ArenaNet should be able to exploit the exploiter’s identity to identify the exploit.
ArenaNet does have algorithms in place to identify “teleport hacking”, so if someone is not being caught by them, knowing which accounts are using the hack can help them tune their detection methods.
At the very least, it couldn’t hurt to let them know.
