sorry noob question but I don’t know where I can by a pistol for my thief. I’m level 4 and I only have a dagger in my left hand and I the quests are not giving me pistols
I think you can start purchasing from the weapon vendors at level 5 so spend five more minutes getting another level and try that out.
Or the Trading Post. Search it for level 1 to 4 pistols.

or
Gold heart vendor (after completing favours)

In cities there are weapons and armor merchants, marked on the main map. Oddly they vary in the level of weapons they sell, and I haven’t memorized which ones are which.
You can craft pistols as well, if you learn the Huntsman crafting. Level 1-4 pistols can be made with minimal mats, though as a rule expect any crafted item to sell for much less than the sum cost of its mats.
