with each ascended trinket there was a 1% crit dmg increase per item !
ascended armor has 1% increase on 1 item only, all the others are the same as exotics in terms of crit dmg !
I feel cheated !

where is my 1% crit dmg per item increase on ascended armor ?

gw1 vets like to brag about how gw1 didn’t have a grind, that is a straight up lie !
- it didn’t have a stat grind
- it did have a grind for looks !

here’s why

anyone that wanted one of the elite armor sets aka gw1 version of ascended armor
needed to grind a lot of very rare, very high priced materials that took months to acquire.

want a vabbian, obsidian or ancient armor set ?
here’s is list of materials you needed to get.

Don’t let the small sample number fool you those were high end materials that were hard to get back in the hey day of gw1 !

so in conclusion:
- was there a stat grind in gw1 ? no
- was there a grind for looks ? yes

Now give me my crit dmg increase per item on my ascended armor if you please ?
this is not gw1 !

  • ANet makes stat increase minimal – people complain it’s pointless.
  • ANet makes stat increase substantial – people complain it’s forcing them to grind to be competitive.

And I don’t think there are many GW1 players that argue the fact there was a grind for looks.

Life is a journey.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.

Stats don’t matter. You don’t need ascended anyway.

I agree with the OP in his assessment of GW1 grind or lack thereof. I wish GW2 was the same but we’re sadly way past the point of no return. Not sure what point the OP was trying to make. As for the missing 1% critical damage bonuses, I couldn’t be happier about that.

1-handed weapons also have no increase in crit damage.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

I could (and did) acquire an elite set (sets actually) of armor in two hours of farming in GW1. I am not claiming that such was the norm, but you state, “anyone,” and are tossing around accusations of lying so you might want to make your own post a bit more accurate.

Also you might want to consider that elite armor sets in GW1 were not a version of ascended armor because they provided no stat advantage over non elite armors. The merits of armor appearance is completely subjective (I disliked most Vabbian and FoW armors for example) whereas numerical/statistical increases are objective. There is no comparison between GW1 elite armor and ascended armor in GW2. It is very much an apples and oranges thing.

If you actually played guild wars 1 instead of just randomly visitng the wiki you would know those armor were quite easy to acquire ESPECIALLY compared to gw2’s ascended.

I had 8 -ish characters. My main had obsidian armor , elite druid and 3 other ‘elite sets’ which forgot the name of (tl:dr i have 5 elite armor sets in HOM from just my main)
My necro and ele both had peices of vabbi armor maybe even full , my dervish had norn elite armor and primeval armor. and i could go on if i could remember what i had for my other characters such as my warrior, assasin, monk etc

On top of that none of those mats werent time gated in any way.

A week of hard work/farming would already earn you one of those armor sets.

And unlike gw2 those high mats were actually tradable thus you could farm and still acquire them (no time gating again)

Not to mention that these armors didnt give you any stats increase whatsoever making the grind which is still less then gw2 purely cosmetic (as opposed to gw2)

Take it from someone who actually played gw1 , compared to its sequel gw1 had no grind , no timegating and alot less rng.

Now back to gw2 who cares about 6% crit damage people are roflstomping pve already. Even without it zerker reigns as the most powerfull pve set up and probably will continue to do so for quite a while.
