why aren't there guild wars in guild wars
The game is named for its lore http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Guild_Wars
As for Guild Vs Guild, that’s a requested feature from GW1 that they have stated currently have no plans to add to the game since they already have wvw and spvp to manage. However, a new spvp is coming in the expansion which will have some Guild Vs Guild options

Oke yeah it would be cool though imo, because now it doens’t really matter what guild you join but if they implement that to the game you get a whole new look at the guilds. but thats al my opinion

Spvp is a type of guild vs guild. A GvG is any thing where one group of ppl clan guild LS (ff11) even gaming group such as the gaming comunitly web pages is fighting another group of ppl of a different type. So every pvp is a GvG or at least can be for any type of game.
If you want GW1 GvG you will only find that in GW1 not in GW2. GW2 has its own player made GvG and may have a named pvp after gvg one day but for now its just a player made thing.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA
The Lore was written to support the intended design of GvG in GW1.
Why aren’t the Stars at war in Star Wars? Why aren’t the whales at war in Whale Wars? Why aren’t the cupcakes at war in Cupcake Wars?
Why aren’t the Stars at war in Star Wars?
But the stars are at war. Aren’t the main good and bad characters the stars of the show? >.>
Why aren’t the Stars at war in Star Wars? Why aren’t the whales at war in Whale Wars? Why aren’t the cupcakes at war in Cupcake Wars?
And why do we say good game after a pvp match?! We all know it’s a good game! That’s why we play it!
like big battlefield were guilds fight each other like WVW but than with guilds?
WvW is just that. A “guild” in the sense of the Guild Wars was not just a group of people. It was an entire kingdom. Smaller guilds, which is the kind of guild that you as a player can join, were a part of these kingdoms.
The last Guild Wars included the kingdoms of Kryta, Ascalon and Orr. In a sense, you could say these are the three worlds competing in WvW. It’s an ancient battle stuck forever repeating in the Mists.
GvG as seen in GW1 was not actually what they envisioned. It was simply a technical limitation and only a small part of the bigger picture, which was WvW. There was an interview that talked about this back in days before launch.
Simply put, if you want Guild Wars, that’s WvW. If you want guild vs guild, that’s team based PvP.
Actually, lorewise, weren’t the guilds groups within each kingdom that often had conflicts? Conflicts that eventually pulled the whole kingdoms into war, but it started on a smaller scale. My memory may be failing me though.
Not that it really matters, but you know.
Also, actual GvG is happening in HoT I believe. So there is that.
The thing that gets me about not having GvG in GW2 is that after GW introduced arena style PvP many of your AAA MMOs scrambled to add arenas to their games. GvG and HoH were what kept a lot of people playing GW for 5-8 years.

I really wish we knew the stats on this. My own suspicions are that only a relatively small percentage of the playerbase were into Guild vs Guild particularly after Nightfall was released.
I think Anet moved to a PvE focus because that’s where their playerbase was.

Yes that’s true, which is why guilds were forbidden in Ascalon and Kryta for a long time.
oh wow i didn’t even know we had no guild vs guild
Mesmer is unfun to play against and does everything better than thieves.
Hoping those two get gutted with nerfs
