Every time i step through the portal i get back to tiria.

You need to keep trying (I assume you mean the Wintersday JP). It takes a few tries but if somebody leaves the instance then you will get in.

too many pplz are already in the jp puzzle. Unfortunately it kicks you out. Its one of the many things that we can blame anet for.

I would say, talk to the guy and use the convo box to enter the puzzle. It might have a higher chance for some reason.
