why is there a cap on condition duration? if you spec for conditions you are obviously going to spec into your classes condition trait line, a lot of which have + duration from traits, you get + duration from runes, sigils, and even some from weapon stats. you don’t need to be using some min/max build to reach a cap on condition duration (especially if you use +40% duration food, or use runes that specialize in 1 condition rather than give +duration in general.)
I don’t see a cap on power, or +crit damage, theres not even a cap on +damage in general multipliers. this cap is one of the main things holding condi builds back in pve, and with HOT right around the corner this is the best time to take away the cap on +condi duration.
was originally thinking this was a rev issue while I was theory crafting, but now realize this effects quite a few classes and takes away a lot of build diversity, would really help the game out a lot of they fixed this.

Server computational resources come to mind. Every tick of a condition has to be calculated on the fly depending on things like might stacks coming and going, condition duration food, banners, etc. Having no limit to the duration is a rabbit hole

There isn’t a cap, the stats are bugged when it stops at 100%…

I was having similar thoughts when compiling a burn build but I noticed if I added an extra 30% manually to 100% duration, the stat would stay 100% while the damage tips on skills would increase duration.

For ELE:
Givers weapons – 20%
Burning Precision Trait – 20% burn uptime
Rare Veggie Pizza – 40%
Toxic Crystal – 10%
Smoldering Sigil – 20%
Sup sig of Malice – 10%
Sup rune of Balth – 10% + 15% + 20% = 45%

Total burn uptime is: 165% burn duration increase, it will reflect on your skill toolbar, but not on the stats in Hero Panel.

I mostly play for the new Free-For-All arena in PvP lobby.
….. And Elementalist.

Are you sure there isn’t a cap? the wiki lists a cap of +100%. Even if tips list more than that, it could just be accounting for situations where the opponent has -% duration. So if you have 165% duration and fight someone with no -% duration modifiers, the duration would be capped at 100%. But if you fight someone with -40% condi food, you’d still be dealing +100% duration since your net stat would be 125%.

It’s kinda like how movement speed is capped at +33%, even tho there are certain effects and traits that list +50%. You could see a benefit from the extra +% if someone casts a movement-impeding condition on you like cripple or chill.

I’m saying there is no cap on the skill bar if you look at it manually but there is on the hero panel. I don’t know if the hero panel is bugged or the skill bar.

There is a cap on total condition duration. It’s goofy though because you can somewhat bypass it with individual traits that specify individual conditions.

Example if you have 100% condition duration and get another 20% condition duration your bleeds will only tick for twice their normal duration.

If you have 100 % condition duration and a trait that adds 40% bleed duration your bleeds will tick for their normal duration plus 1.4 times their normal duration.

I can confirm this, noticed it as well. Would be nice to duel some willing participants and video record for the sole purpose of working out which one of these is bugged.

it could also be, though very unlikely, that the over 100% duration is meant to kick in only when encountering counterbuffs, such as -40% duration foods etc. this is often the case with DOT builds in other games of this genre.
