why don't we see more devs playing the game anymore?
They do this a lot. One of them was in PvP doing something or another recently. But they are devs so they are usually doing, well, developing..
i’ve spotted a bunch of them throughout halloween, didn’t even know there were devs in fort aspenwood :P
you have to keep in mind that no matter how big ANet is, they’re still spread throughout dozens of servers.
so to see a specific dev, you have to be on the same server as him, at the same time as him, and on the same map as him, on the same area of the map, and spot his dev tag on his name. and they might not even be using the tag (i’ve heard one or two of them mentioning they like to go undercover every now and then, to hear what people have to say).
that’s a lot of variables to spot one in what, 100 guys?
haha wow i didnt think of that man, nice i will keep that in mind.
I’ve seen Jon Peters and Jonathan Sharp in the mists discussing sPvP stuff on occasion, both in beta and sometime during live. Boy, do they get swarmed with questions. lol
I’ve seen them a few times in WvW.
haha yeah i gess most of them try to be undercover because of the amount of questions lol
I did part one of the scavenger hunt with an Anet employee, they are there.
No they are not “undercover” Anet employes accounts have the little red arena net symbol next to there names.
Oh I forgot to mention that they can turn their red tag on/off. I think it works like a guild tag, only they get a red logo instead of a guild tag.
yeah i thought that too
How do you know one of the developers were playing? They have a special colored name or something??
@akasuki
i think they have their own personal accounts too, i remember in one article, they mentioned they do go take off their anet tags and sit in lions arch watching people chat about possible improvements
Ryfaul – 80 Warrior
Fluene – 80 Mesmer

They used to, with a special ArenaNet icon above their character’s head. I can’t find the post but I believe some of the developers have gone “underground”, preferring to use standard accounts instead.
Probably because of the influx of spam and such…

they have the ANet logo next to their names… if they feel like.

I seen them on the clock tower many times.

that’s where i saw one of them. he was quite a chatty guy, it was funny having him around… although he was a big, fat norn >.>
GW staff members hide their identity so they don’t receive a flood of PMs.
However, they play on normal accounts. I know one ANET staff member, but I’m not going to say his name with respect to the dude.
Developers play but they don’t always announce that they are developers! So be nice to everyone you meet! :]
