i dont understand why we have the option to change so much about our character, but not the race. i would pay anet money to do this. i know this would affect personal story, at which point why not just reset me to the beginning and disable rewards up to wherever i was at. as far as cultural armor i cant imagine it would be hard to reset my transmutation to the race i want to switch to, or just to a cheap default. i made my character years ago before thinking about how i would feel about it in the long run and would rather give anet money than level another necro along with all of the crafting.

am i alone in this opinion?

Google “GW2 forums race change” to get proof you are not alone along with all the discussions on why it’s not feasible.

ANet have said they will not be adding this. they have given multiple reasons why they will not do it. People need to let it go.

I bolides down to your race being a special snowflake when it comes to the game code.

Delete your character, start over.

The option is already there, buy a new char slot if you have used all existing ones. Come on stop being so lazy. Do the work yourself don’t expect Anet to do it all for you! :P

So, how would they deal with your three starting choices, including armour skins and pets? Say, if you didn’t have them unlocked elsewhere? Or your race-based story choices, skills, and armours? Or achievements tied to race and racial story quests? Paying to unlock skins, pets, and achievements now? Like I know games like FFXIV allow it, but race doesn’t factor into anything outside of a tiny arrangement stat points.

Not even stat points, Astra Lux. Other than cosmetic issues, the only difference in the races is the racial utilities and those are deliberately made weaker than profession utilities.
