I transmutated my legendary so that i could get the stats that i wanted, i was wondering that when legendarys get boosted so that you can change the stats on them and turn ascended will mine still work?

this is the reason i didn’t transmute mine, because i don’t know.
the description of a transmuted legendary is in fact transmuted, not legendary

I doubt they will screw over every existing legendary owner….
That would be such an obvious stupid move. Besides it should be fairly easy to untransmute all of them. Then they will just have to set the stats on their weapons again.

One approach would be to add an untransmute item to gem store. Mail 1 untransmute for each transmuted legendary on the account.

All I know is, if I manage to finish mine before the upgrade comes out, I certainly won’t be transmuting it. Somehow I doubt that people who have transmuted in the past will magically get credited.

Hopefully someone comments on this. A lot of people (myself included) transmuted legendaries early on before improvements had been announced. For us, it seemed like a no brainer to get the stats we wanted.

I indeed missed “most likely” in that sentence. However, the other way around would be screwing over transmuted legendary owners, and I don’t know how pleasant would that be for them.

well i was hoping that a dev would be able to give a definite answer but i guess the worst case is that i would have to obtain a new ascended sword and transmutate it.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing anet will basically tell transmuted legendary owners “tough luck” for transmuting weapons when they had no idea those weapons would be upgraded later or ineligible for upgrade later.

This. You’ve ground out a legendary… I doubt it would be that hard to get a new ascended weapon simply for stat transmutation.

I think Anet said it themselves that it was safe to transmute. I never transmuted mine, just to be safe. I like soldier weapons anyways so it works.

yes indeed but its not convenient, also in the update you will be able to change the stats on legendarys whenever you arent in combat which i wouldnt be able to do so its not ideal.

the new legendary will have every set of stats to chose from when we are out of combat, that is so much appreciated!!

Not ideal, no. But if it saves Anet having to do some tricky code to figure out who already has an xmuted legendary and then revert that to its original state, I wouldn’t be surprised if “not ideal” was fine with them.
