its been awhile since ive gotten anything but snowflakes from my home instance node. I used to get at least one sometimes 2 drinks. lately, nothing but snow.

Wintersday Gifts are identical regardless of where they are encountered. On average, you get 0.8 drinks/ gift, which means a 20% chance of getting no drink at all, if gifts dropped only one drink at a time. As you’ve said, they can drop more than 1, so the chance of getting no drinks is higher than 20%. For argument’s sake, let’s call it 33% chance of no drinks — there’d be ~1.8% chance that you could go 10 days without getting a drink.

In other words, if all you are doing is opening up your 1 gift/day from your home instance, then there’s more than a 1% chance that you won’t have gotten anything since the last patch. That’s not even very unlucky.

FYI since things like Wintersday Gifts are opened regularly by the 1000s, you can be pretty sure that investors would notice if they were getting less than 0.8 drinks/gift and would report it.
