For the last few days I’ve been looking up meta builds/speed runs after seeing people charge gold for “run throughs” on my servers LFG window and my question is when did Anet stop caring about exploits? I am a fairly new player when it comes to GW2 but a long time player of other MMORPG’s and i’ve never seen people for lack of a better word break the game like they are doing atm in GW2. What surprised me the most is i found heaps of post from the earlier days of GW2 and there were anything from your standard 72 ban to straight out permaban for genuine exploits to Minor exploits such as trading karma for items then vendoring the items. My point in this thread was that i wanted to express my worries about a great game that i enjoy thoroughly, i dont want to continue to see this game becoming as deep as puddle if you get my meaning…..without a reason for diversity people will stop caring a large part of an mmo is knowing/thinking that your character is unique but when there is no practical reason to have anything other than mesmer/ele/war all dps no tank builds or heal/buff builds or even condi builds whats the point of the others? and once all faults are exploited…..which will not take long or maybe already achieved…the game will die off……and i dont want that and am sure plenty of others will agree, all im asking of Anet is to take back there game and return it to the way it was intended ( this is an assumption but i truly hope 0 diversity and 4 second boss kills was not how it was meant to be)
all this was, was my honest opinion no harm intended.
peace

They way it was meant to be was a new venue designed to make players spend money.
Implementation of 90% of content becomes exclusive or mainly acquired via gems and anything else comes half thought and with half the effort.
This opinion is based on the comparison between the original game and it’s sequel.
A severe lack of free permanent content is poorly justified with comments designed to hide the truth or sugar coat it.
Again these are my opinions this is not grieving or misinformation / attacks.
There is no need to unjustly delete this post as well although I’m sure I’ll get another pm any moment now.

Anet still care about exploit. Not long ago they banned a bunch of people about an exploit (Linen).

But i’m not sure what you are trying to point out here. Your post seem to be about anything in particular and everything at the same time.

Do you think that speed run, skipping, etc are exploit that Anet should fix? There is already a big post of that and several smaller one on that very issue. (That i only partially share).

or are you talking about the fact that its Zerker or go home? Which also have a lot of topic on. This is especially true about zerker since a lot of people are talking about that in the moment because of the future change of Crit Dmg to ferocity.

no its not the speed or skipping its particularly walljumping and on occasion completely passing areas through exploiting mechanics that im worried about also the “Meta” builds which are completely out of balance with all of the other build options. and the fact that ive seen a group of 4 kill the boss Lupi in under 5 seconds is ridiculous, and i dont think its the power of the certain skills thats the issue its the boss’s defence against such things as fiery greatsword spin exploits(basically cornering the boss through kiting and ele’s smash it into the corner with its spin attack and prebuffing). Plus i disagree with people making gold from these practice’s.

Only thing i can recommend is keep submitting dungeon exploit reports. Anet, will start releasing patches regularly and the dungeon exploits could be fixed in any of the next 4 upcoming patches. Also, there live stream broadcast 2 days ago is changing several combat mechanics and skills around. So some of the “meta” builds will break.

Walljumping and exploit in dungeon was something common in the early game of last year. Not its really rare. Maybe there is more, but for now I think there is 1 in CM and 1 in TA where the boss can’t hit you, but you can. These two are pretty much the rule if you run these particular path, but other than that Anet fixed all of the other i use to know. I’m sure that there is more that I don’t recall at the moment, other that I simply never saw and other that ppl don’t found out about yet. But still its really not a big issue in the game right now and Anet will continue to fix them eventually like they did with about 100 others exploits in dungeon since the beginning of the game.

People making gold is not about exploit btw. Most of these people are good player that can solo these path faster than most pug can do the dungeon in a full group. So they reach the end of the path alone and then sell the 4 remaining place for profit. Personally, i like to actually do dungeon, but i don’t mind the practice.

For the meta, i won’t go into that. Plenty of topic about this subject.

happy to hear it.
i’d just like to see a good balance in all aspects of a build whether you want to build a tank,heals/buffer,condi, power or crit….i just dont think one way should rule they should all have distinct strengths and weakness’s.

fair enough, as i said im new to GW2 and enjoy it greatly, but this is a crucial moment for the future of the game with 2 more high budget MMO’s coming out this year i really dont want to see it fall before its time

This thread isn’t helping anyone. You should please be more specific about exploits so that devs can use the information in the future. Don’t specify names of players here. Just report them in game and post detailed information about what they were doing.

Also if you have concerns about the design of the game, whether it be class balance, dungeons, or any content, there are specific forum sections for each of those. And again, you need to be more specific about your concerns.

The most specific thing you got in to was the DPS pve meta (and I agree there should be more condi, CC, and support in the meta), but there are countless threads on that topic already. What many people don’t understand is that caring and doing are two different things. Designing games is not as easy as you think. It’s not like the devs are too lazy/careless to press the magic “fix everything” button. Such a button does not exist. The iterative process takes time. Every single nit picking thing in the game does not exist in a vacuum. You can’t change one thing without affecting dozens or hundreds of other things.

That’s not what I’ve seen. There are still tons of map abusing exploits in the dungeons right now (Arah and AC, for example). Anet fixes at most one exploit per patch, and usually the exploit is still valid after minor adjustment.

You can tell by looking at the path selling prices. When there is a price spike downwards, that means a new exploit is being spread.

I stop caring when I went from playing 10 hours a day to 0 hours to 1-2 hours a day.

If you dont’ treat mmorpg as your life, you’ll stop caring.

no it was never a go at the dev’s at most it was an accusation of ignorance or not understanding the effect these problems have on the game…..i know that sounds arrogant but i know that at times not with this game in particular that dev’s have overlooked some problems thinking that there would be no adverse effect on the game.
These are my beliefs as i said this was my opinion….you could have chosen to disregard it and so could anyone that disagreed.
i think thing like alienation and enabling elitism with content like dungeons in an MMO can stop people playing because its such a big part of the game….for example i donno if you have this problem on your server but it is unbelievable how hard it is to just get a group for explore mode for any dungeon without zerker gear or unless you are mesmer ele or war…….on occasion gaurd.

….did anyone say they were trying to replace life?…….and just because you have decided it’s not for you….there are many out there that dont have many entertainment option…for instance i have a broken ankle…….cant move for 3 months…….and im saying that mmorpgs are my life but i do spend alot of my time invested in this game so….i would like it if players didnt exploit the game for content that is suppose to obtained over time and devalue it for everyone.

well people always exploit in video game. I would say it isn’t even that bad in this game.

You can’t expect any online game to have no cheating players.

I’m not sure if you are talking about path selling. I think Anet dont’ consider it as an exploit to sell path.

They probably consider it cheating to “kick people” to sell path. But even that is hard to proof.

no i can’t expect players not to cheat….but should be able to expect the dev’s to make it hard for them……i sure its not a days work to ban an account for a day or even have a warning message sent out…..no i dont mean selling paths….i mean selling a lesson in exploits…..obviously if a player has the gear the skill to solo paths its in there rights to make some gold off the other 4 spots………obviously it doesnt matter what the reasoning behind it is……someone was gonna have an issue with it…..that is why i made sure i added the phases…..my belief…..my opinion……you can disregard…….if you disagree……….

and….people say report them….they are extremely picky in who they take with them and unless i see it and can prove it so theres no point in the accusation……hence the reason behind a public forum….where everyones thoughts and opinions are valid……..anyway im done….said all i need to say if still feel the need to argue your out of luck….
