LOL I saw exactly the same thing during WVW season 2 but it was a warrior with a rifle, trying to use a camp as protection, and still couldn’t kill me. These people are pathetic.

At first I thought it was just really bad lag, as he didn’t even shoot back and I thought he was running from you, but that wouldn’t explain all the sudden movements, even considering Lightning Reflexes and Swoop.

one of the devs said they can only action against hackers if they see it first hand and that you should report it with the in-game thingy so they can get there asap. Don’t know how effective this is, but that’s what they said.

first they kill you, then they stomp your corpse, then their pet fertilizes the surrounding area so a tree will grow good and strong off your remains.
in all seriousness, rangers are not the easiest targets imo. personally, I much prefer seeing warriors or ele’s – they die MUCH faster than ranger, and they never seem to be able to deal with all the clones. If I had to rank everyone from happiest to saddest to fight against, it would be: warrior, ele, guard, ranger, engineer, necro, mesmer, thief. thief die really quick as well, but they usually will cloak and scurry away; they are more of a nuisance than a threat, which makes them annoying to go up against.

Actually you can add them as a friend or block them and their actual name and global show up in your list. You can even party up with ‘enemies’ (at least in the Obsidian Sanctum you can).

Wow… that ain’t even mad lag, that’s just straight up freaking hacking. Looks like Anet needs to get on the stick and quit worrying about gem store re-skins of pre-existing gear.

I’ve seen this happen while following commanders in EOTM when you used to be able to get your dailies done quick in the trains running there before the new daily changes. There was this necro commander who would use that teleport trick in little bursts every 2 or 3 seconds while in scorp form thinking no one would notice, but he kept getting called out on it and multiple people reported him. Like a week later when I wanted to get my dailies done quick he was on my side for the week once more leading a karma train and at it again. I’m not talking about the scorp skill that lets you “burrow” teleport with a long cooldown but actual teleporting that behaved exactly as shown in the OP’s video.

Spoiler alert: that was just an ArenaNet employee incognito.

Report them under the “Botting” category. Anet has said this is their preferred way to get reports like this.

It’s sad that this type of thing is able to continue with seeming impunity.

I’m curious what the UI is for this sort of hacking. you can’t be changing some file’s text on the fly like that. and it looks too intentional to be random (he uses it to run away). it looks more like he is just blinking but without the blink animation. but how would you add a ground-targeting ability as a hack? Most hacks are not as visually stimulating as TV lets you believe.
My only guess is that he programmed a macro that is activated by pressing a single key that would edit some file’s text to set his position to his current position plus a few hundred units in whatever direction he’s facing.

I’ve seen this guy before, might be just a harmless troll since he doesn’t fight people unless they chase after him.

I am perfectly serious the general tone as of late is one of hatred toward rangers. Was the profession of the individual that was playing at the time really all that important that it needed to be mentioned as part of the thread title.

I generally stay out of WvW as it is a mess, so I could care less about your emotional response to it. And if anet isn’t doing anything about it what does that say to you?
