Do we know if after making a revenant we can immediately start into the heart of thorns story if we use tomes? or do we have to do all the story up to killing zhaitan in order to start the expansion?

no making a revenant is the exact same as every other character, Anet said it was a small hole in the plot as technically revenants come in HoT but they can’t do anything about it without using a lot of resources

We’ve never ever had a personal story for a profession, only for races. As revenant is not a race, there will be no personal story for it.

Once the expansion starts it will be available to any level 80 regardless of whether or not they’ve done the personal story.

They’ve already said revenants will work exactly the same way as any other profession: they start at level 1 in their races starting instance, can be levelled by tomes or in PvE or WvW or any combination of things and will have the same personal and living story as other professions.

But since you won’t need to complete the personal story (or living story) on any character to play HoT you won’t need to do it on your revenant either.
