100% Rep problems in HoT
I guess I must of missed something, but from what I understood the amount of players repping your guild has nothing to do with the currencies you earn. 1 currency is earned automatically over time, one is earned by your guild completing weekly guild missions, and the other we are still waiting on more info on from what I remember.
So with that model in place, the guild only needs you for when they do specific guild events, no need to 100% rep.

Well, if that was the case, then there’s no need for any rep at all (aside from displaying a logo on gear/items/finisher).
However, Resonance will depend on representing guild members playing:
Resonance serves the sole purpose of speeding up the assembling of guild items and removes the need to balance other currencies around that. Meanwhile, resonating shards reward small group play with fellow guild members. Keep an eye out for more info on resonance and resonating shards when we talk about our new guild-specific crafting profession, scribing, in a future post.

Yeah, that description of Resonance is very vague and hardly anything to worry about. Not to mention Anet has specifically stated it wants to erase the need for 100% rep.
Just read the new guild blog post and while I appreciate the effort to reduce the conflict of 100% rep, I still forsee an issue with this, despite being able to chat with other non-repped guilds.
Since repping a guild will contribute to earning currencies for that guild, guild leaders will want their guild repped and when you have multiple guilds with the same desire, there’s going to be trouble (read: drama).
There’s two ways I foresee getting around this and I don’t think that either are perfect:
1) Remove the ‘repping’ of guilds and have any currencies gained go to all guilds that person is a member of.
I.e. if you do the “small group play” with guild members that are all members in 2 guilds, both of those guilds gain the resonance earned.
2) Make earning guild currencies so easy that guilds won’t need to worry if all members aren’t representing.
I’d hate to see this second suggestion come to pass, but it’s better than having guild member/guild leader conflict over which guild the member is representing.
Personally, I’d rather see GW2 go back to a single guild system where guilds can become alliances for shared chat rather than maintain this multi-guild system that really seems to fracture the community more than anything, but I know many people may not agree with that.
Leave representation in. Remove the indicator from all guild roster views. The only person who needs to know if you are repping a certain guild at a glance is you.
Of course, if the guild leader wants to go to the trouble of tracking you down in-game to check your name plate that is his business.
I might sidetrack a bit with my post, not really about 100% rep but the possible guild issues that much arise from cross chat.
I foresee the problem of guilds which shared the same players base. If it is different players base, there won’t be much problem. But, same player base will have issues and I’m sure is not hard to assume what issues if you think about it.
I also foresee the problems of a guild with large amount of members in another guilds that do guild missions earlier than them thus these members don’t see the reason to do guild missions with the guild.
I also foresee the problem of guild identity, since to “Represent” in HoT means to show what tag you want people to see and know you are part of. Then, I assume people will want you to represent to show their tag as part of the guild identity.
I think the serious guild will be setting stricter requirements with this change as there will be wave of people who are going to join guilds for the sake of joining guilds just because they can. They will also want to identify who are their core players and what’s not. Likewise, they also do not want people who are taking up officers role on multiple guilds to be their officers.
Of course, if people using it genuinely like having a guild for world boss, a guild for your close friends, a main guild where you do most of your activities at, a personal bank guild and another for maybe whatever needs. I think it is great. But, I am worried about people abusing it for bad intentions. While anet is wanting to improve the social aspect of people but not everyone uses the guild for the social aspect, there are people who uses the guild just to simply beg for golds, ask for help and then leave after they done using them and so on.
There is huge amount of possibilities and of course, I am sure the current guilds already have a general idea on how they gonna adapt to this change.

I really would never join a guild that required 100% rep. It’s just too limiting. Some guilds like to see themselves as one-stop shops, but in reality, very few guilds can do everything well enough to justify it.
100% isn’t a problem, its a choice. If you agree to the terms then join the guild. If you don’t want to follow the guilds rules or don’t disagree no problem, leave the guild. Its clearly not the guild for you.
