1st 30 min of HoT
That’s pretty much exactly what I am going to do only with a sylvari instead.
burn all sylvari
I plan to do much the same. Make a Sylvari male Revenant, insta level to 80, then start exploring the story while learning how the Revenant plays. I’ll probably be doing that for quite a bit more than just 30 minutes.
I install the expansion into my computer. I make a revenant and take it into PvP. I play around and notice how trash the class is. I go back to the store and ask for a refund. Life goes on .
Examine the changes first. Research beforehand, if possible. And the decide the best path for my character to follow: druid or stay ranger?
After that, explore the new areas and map it. Achievement hunt. The usual suspects when a new zone opens.
I’m still debating trying to beta or not (not fond of spoilers, do like to help give feedback). If I do beta, then I’ll have an idea of what to start with.
Regardless, lesson learned from LS patches: be ready to hit that New Build load button immediately. If I do so I usually get my patch a lot faster than if I wait a couple of minutes and everyone else leaps in.
Because I imagine the first 30 minutes of HoT for a lot of people will be watching a little red line slowly cross the screen from left to right
figure out the fastest way to start flying.
I think I’ll explore first with an existing level 80, so I can focus on all the other new stuff before making a new character too. And yeah, I especially want to try flying. One of the things I enjoy most is new landscapes, so I’m really looking forward to just exploring.
Depends on what the specializations are for Engi and Thief. If thief ends up getting rifle and becoming a sniper I will turn my thief to that and hit the new zone. If not I will hit the new zone with my engi new spec or not. Not sure how I feel about the hammer on engi, but if we are getting drones I am all over that. I will probably wait to make a Rev until the rush wears off. I have one of every character as it is so have PLENTY to mess with before diving in to a whole new character. Oh yeah, and first thing I do when I get character figured out is figure out how to fly!
I’m assuming we’ll know all the specializations and what they do (roughly, anyway) by the time HoT releases, so the first thing I’ll be doing is grabbing whichever of my 6 characters I want to spec first and jumping headfirst into the Maguuma Jungle.
I’ll make my revenant, run to the end of tutorial, use the experience scroll and tomes, grab prepared armor from storage, and run into HoT while spamming skill point scrolls on my way.
After that I’ll run around like a chicken with it’s head cut off like all the other Revenant players who won’t know what they’re doing.
Alternatively, I’ll do all the aforementioned preparation and run into WvW instead. Mass Revenant blob tactics will certainly win the week!
Create revenant, make 80, buy traits etc, check the new skills at the golems.
Take my necro, and start amassing mastery points till i get that sweet GS.
Put him in pvp to see how he is.

Good luck returning a used one-time use game code.
I’ll take my current main, go into the jungle and start the storyline, try out masteries and hopefully have fun and will enjoy some gaming.

Such an optimist
Hop on my main of the time, choose a specialization and try out the new skills. I will roll a revenant eventually, but it isn’t a top priority for me.
