They should make it a 1 time drop so there is no chance of getting more than 1.
Someone getting 2, 100 or 1.000.000 has absolutely no effect on everyone else’s chances of getting one.
It’s a % chance to drop set in the droptables, not a finite number of portal droppable.
It’s easy to add something to a drop table. Making something only dropping once for an account from a drop table is more complicated and require special coding. It would change nothing in the end, so why should they have wasted their time on coding something that would serve no purpose in the end?

Yeah I have to agree with you. Something is broken big time because its not even funny the amount of pres and high end exotics some people get compared to others. Some people really do get 1 pre a day be it from the MF or a mob drop.
If they want experienced ppl what play alot test their betta why they dont gate stuff like behind some collection type thing not dumb rng? I saw guy with 4 portal while I have 0 after 40 hours of farming.

Adding another check is adding another process to the formula, creating more load to the database server, hogging needed resources, slowing distribution down, slowing the game down. 1 or 100, it’s still just one account, sufficient to it’s purpose; the testing of an unreleased product. Still, most people that get a beta key probably have never realistically filled out a coherent beta test ticket, or even incoherent at that. I think be happy they didn’t do like some: request email form with your credentials + references.

Hate to break it to you but computers are actually pretty bad at random numbers:

Because they’re not really doing like a lotto of all numbers… they’re using a “seed” number to run some math formula it but the reality is this leads to REALLY weird kitten patterns that can become noticeable.
With so many people playing a game like this… the problems of computerized RNG just become more apparent.
People need to understand how RNG works, EVERY SINGLE time the game rolls for a drop, that roll is handled separately, your chance never increases or decreases the more or less you get rare drops.
It really is that simple. The system averages out over ALL accounts in the WHOLE game, so yes, it seems broken, it is not.

DR is limited to XP and karma gained from events in most cases and bag drops in WvW.

Are you sure? because i am pretty sure if u go farming any type of T6 mat you will notice an obvious decrease in drops if you farm the same mobs over and over again. Is there any official statement about what you said?

Besides normal mob drops which are low in number, in SW for example 90% of rewards are from Dynamic events. This is contradictory to what it says about open world DR…because dynamic events only happen in open world DR..there are none in dungeons.
Also as i said, it’s very strange that when i farm for T6, i get visibly less mat drops after 2-3h exactly like it’s written in that wiki…even tho it’s in open world. Also as strange is the fact that most ppl QQing are ppl who played extensive amounts of hours and didn’t get the reward as opposed to what i’ve read and heard from most ppl who got the item (less then 1-2h) or first events.
I remain skeptical regarding the info on the wiki page. I haven’t seen anything to indicate it’s 100% right yet.

If you read further you would see that its specified to affect Coin, Karma and XP from events only. Coin being irrelevant for SW as they don’t award straight up gold for events.

WHY would this be strange? Why would people who got it quickly QQ about it?

I notice when running around the map I gain 250-270 badges while I gain 150-170 whie camping a fortress, knowing most veteran bosses are worth 3 badges, and some will come from doing a second fortress defence, I expect doing 10-15 addional objective is easily achievable, which is an added 15 chests, for an additional 15 chances per event cycle… doing this once doesn’t seem a problem but I noticed most people are hopping events now, I gathered 4k tokens the last few days since patch, I made quite a lot of cycles, say 16-20 This will mean I got 16-20 * 15 addional box tries. (240-300)? compared to those people who just camp a fortress. No luck though…
Maybe DR is affecting me… even with 662% MF, I still have no luck… did gain 600 bolts of silk and 330 ecto though…

MF does not affect portal drop. Confirmation by ANET dev in Drytop, you can find the post on reddit.
I was mostly camping fortress while trying to do most nearby Vets and incoming/outgoing dollys for their first/last part.

Oh an people seem to have gotten the portals from labyrinths chests as well, until now I still haven’t heard people getting them from te 5 champions though (I do not mean the breach champs) but the 5 champs after the VW.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

You will see the balance between ppl who got it fast and ppl who got it investing a lot of time is very disproportional. As i said..i remain skeptical to their whole drop system.

The countermeasure to DR is quite easy : stop hitting the same 10 mobs five hours in a row and move around.
A map has basicly 3-4 types of mobs that usually sit in the same pack or similar. If you move for several hours in a row you hit the supposedly DR for all of them relatively at the same time.

People who get it after 20 hours are less likely to post than someone who HASN’T gotten it after 20+hours. So you can not simply take the posts as law.
I had a 18hours stint(got it around 10 AM the next morning), not leaving instance, not breach hopping, got up for potty breaks and coffee, thats it. A few extra hours before than on and off as well. But not constantly.
Ok guys i have to say the ones complaining about RNG are wrong and most probably complaining because they didn’t get the portal yet. Fair enough.
I got mine after 20 – 40 hours of gameplay during the weekend. Although i have to say in the way thru i got a lot of drops from the PvE.
After playing long hours straight on the same map i have to say:
- DR seems does not affect drops from enemies/chest. I’ve got ascended chest after playing +6 hours straight.
- RNG is a kitten that’s right. With the drops will help the MF only if you are over 400% (total). With 450% you get more exos and the ascended even after hours of playing in the same map.
- The Portal drop doesn’t seems to be affected by MF. I think is more about they put like 1% chance to drop it (i guess). I’ve got chest dropped from enemies but didn’t bring the portal (although the brought other very nice stuff). So let’s think that has to get first to drop the chest and then to drop the portal (two controls?).
People complaining about the RNG they only have to do one thing: Play harder. I wouldn’t have it by now i wouldn’t complain here with the hope that Anet would make it even easier to get. Having a collection/puzzles i think is not an option, Walkthroughs exists and that could make the beta to became overcrowded.

I‘m absolute sure you are getting trolled.
Not everyone who pings a pre in map-chat or tells you about his hundreds of pre is honest towards you.
Of course if you throw thousands of items in the MF each day you get a pre each day. But this is just a numbers game.
