200+ping Gold medal minigames.
The problem is if they balance content around those with poor computers and/or poor connections, then it will take away any sort of challenge for everyone else.

His post, as I read it, is about the mastery points behind them.
“mini game/activity gold medal mastery achievements.”
Maybe they could add an additional 10 seconds option that doesn’t count towards the leaderboards for those that only want the mastery point.
ANet may give it to you.

Isn’t the challenge for others to do it as fast as possible to score high on the leaderboard? If someone is doing it so slowly they don’t even register on the leaderboard then how does it remove the challenge for those trying to be one second faster?

I actually managed a decent score on ‘fungus among us’ with much persistence, free time and latency luck.
But scores/leaderboards are not relevent to my issue. my problem is obtaining the Mastery points tied to gold medal achievments. Some are doable even easy, but others games are infuriating. Being a in the higher eschelon of latency player base many aspects can be an increased challenge to overcome with many just sucking up and dealing with it (quite possibly better at it for overcoming the extra variables). However having Mastery points tied to this content makes it an issue. somewhat. ‘this isnt a competitive pvp request’
I understand that making compromises could trivialise content for the fortunate low ping population.
But i just wanted to voice my opinion for those of us less fortunate, and perhaps intrigue the game testers to give a gold medal on 200+ ping a try*
I agree OP, it can be disheartening. The good news is, you really don’t need those gold medals. I don’t have most of them, and I still have every mastery trained.

The challenge being that the rewards for adventures are tiered. I would have thought it would have been obvious that if you nerf something for a specific group of players then you nerf it for everyone else. You brought up the leaderboard nonsense when I made zero reference to it.

/shrug.
All he’s talking about wanting is the mastery point. Most of the mastery points are commune or open a chest or something similar. If getting gold is so important to some people them bump the mastery points down to bronze and silver. They get the mastery points and the people who care so much about getting gold on the adventure can continue to do so.

You should read their post again. They’re talking about the achievements specifically for obtaining gold in adventures and how it’s difficult to earn them with high ping. Other than the single use of “mastery” in their post to describe the achievements, 99.99% of their post was about the adventure itself in regards to completing those gold achievements. Take away mastery points as a reward for gold and it still would not change their argument in their post thus mastery points were not their focal point.
There are 37 excess mastery points for Maguuma masteries. Someone could skip adventures entirely if they desired. They could also just skip gold masteries too and still have the flexibility to choose which mastery points they want to earn and which ones the do not.

his second post said

Obviously if the mastery point is behind a gold medal barrier then he’s going to talk about that also.
Perhaps you can find the posts where he’s trying to get the gold but explicitly says its because he’s wants the achievements other than mastery points

Which like I said before their second post, whether or not they actually were referring to mastery points did not have an impact on what I stated. Nerfing those achievements so that those with poor performing computers and/or poor connections reduces the. Halle he for everyone else. Balance should not be centered around those players just as balance should not be centered around the worst of the terrible players in other areas of the game.
There is no reason to remove mastery points from gold achievements as there are 37 excess mastery points. I had stated this in the post you partially quoted. Skipping all gold mastery achievements means that players have 22 other mastery points to choose from in order to max all of their masteries. The number of excess points has gradually been increasing with each living story episode.
Well, we’ll have to agree to disagree.
I think putting mastery points behind a time barrier that affects people more if they live far away from a data center was a bad idea. They did it to try to make adventures more enticing but I don’t think it worked. If it didn’t work then loosening the points up is definitely an option, regardless if you can get them elsewhere.
ANet may give it to you.
As I specified, leader boards are not the concern, as anyone who plays 200+ping has more or less accepted the fact that high level competitive game play is moot.
Some of the mini games a quite achievable (even easy) to attain a gold medal and thus the master and achievement* points associated. Some others are just not an option.
So there is a range of dificulty* between the different mini games [Unbalanced?]. which suggests that some tweaking could be viable.
Now i agree there is a glut of mastery points so hitting cap* with the current game is attainable without all the gold medals.
But there will be a player base like myself that would like to complete* such things too.
200+ ping players already make do for a majority of what gw2 has to offer and enjoy it enough to continue playing even with the detrimental latency.
Unless you have played with high ping then i just don’t think you can understand how it effects particular skills and abilities more than others.
Some of the issues could be reworked on the client side, similar to how gliding* was fixed.
this is not just a handful of players either. but an entire region of players.
I acknowledged the concern of content trivialization by nerfing to the lowest denominator, but I think some of these mini games could be looked into somewhat to prevent desk flipping.
More or less repeating statments now so i’ll just leave it at that.
A few of the more difficult adventures for those with high ping are also needed to finish some of the collection achievements
hi….. 400 – 600 average ping here… oceanic in EU server. :p
