Last Specialization reveal was on May 14, 2015… When can we expect a new specialization reveal? Originally I thought every 2 weeks as others expected as well, but so far it has been 2 months since the last reveal and I do not know about others, but I am curious to see what ANet has been creating.

Wasn’t the general consensus that they smothered us with info during the pre-purchase fiasco, so now they have to spread out the trickle more so they don’t run out of things to show off?

Thinking about it, that sounds pretty horrible =/

Same, but hopefully they’re working on showing us something they’re working on in the future. At least, that’s my hope. Otherwise, get your fire resistant suits ready.

Somehow I don’t believe this. We know today they need forums to keep endgame alive, so ppl can comment on great changes we are getting these days and how much we appreciate the game. This is good, this game deserves our “thank you” every day. I love this game. And to the OP, we don’t really need more info about HoT when we’re having such a good time playing our characters in Tyria. There is so much to explore in this game that I don’t think I am able to consume all the content before HoT.

It’s true that his arguments aren’t always cheap, sorry for that. Sometimes imo he’s right. But I never saw a single post where he’s critical about the game.

@OP: I am fine until now, they need their time and they’ll show us when it’s ready. We all hoped for a release during late summer or early fall and it seems as long as they hold up information the longer it takes. Now late 2015 or even early 2016 seems more and more realistic…

Nope, the forums are simply not made for such activity as what was taking place then. When a hot (pun not intended) topic appears, and lot of people that usually ignore the forums, frequent them at irregular rates and/or stick only to reading suddenly start to post at the same time, everything goes down.

My guess is that they have made some big changes to some of the specs (thus the ele sword→warhorn and thief rifle→melee staff recent change, that can be assumed from datamining), and as an effect had to delay their info on them. So, we’re not getting next specializations informations because those specs are simply not ready yet.

I don’t mind waiting longer for news. If decided to makje change it is only for the better. Look at lat trait patch 2 weeks ago. Everything was improved and I’m happy with their changes. If we wait more for HoT it will be the best quality product on the market and we will love this. I can wait a few weeks longer for more news.

Then the Forum Software is kittenty if this is the Case. It should handle a bigger Amount of People reading Topics. ( Exepct we had over a few million People going reading here on the same time )

But still. The Rage after the Marketing Disaster was one of the bigger Crapstorms I’ve seen. Spamming the Forum with the same Topic over and over with some really bad Grammar and there were also People who went personal towards the Devs, there was at least one Dev who received a mail from one of the Ragers. And even now People are demanding certain Anet Staff to be fired and insult them. ( not here but there was at least one Reddit Thread where this happens/ happened )

It isn’t that far fetched that someone used a DDOS just out of Rage. People are doing dumb things when angered and DDOSing something isn’t that hard anymore.
But it could also happened due to the Forums not being able to handle many Players.
Both of these things are possible.

Few ppl on forums is not even 1% of a community. Perspective is important. And warhorn fits tempest. Angry ppl are more likely to post on forums because they want to complain. Happy players are playing the game because they are happy with the game. So this is important to observe what ppl like and develop more content focused on those playing, not complaining.

No, it fits tempest in your opinion. I don’t think it does and consider it the worst weapon choice they could ever implement.

While forums do not hold the opinion of the whole ele community, it’s a sample of people who play the profession, which is imo good enough to base the assumption on. However, it’s not only forums who hate the idea of warhorn.

Love the argument that all the happy people are playing the game and not complaing, which is based only on your assumption, nothing else.

So we have a middle ground of “it’s my assumption vs your assumption” and they are both, if you allow me, worthless. It is good to voice customers’ opinion however we know nothing about other players so we can speak only about our thoughts. But don’t worry, it’s good to have different opinions, I’m not angry with you. I know I am right, but it’s nice to discuss things in civilised manner here.

Anet has the data. They will know if people will use warhorn or not, so at the end we won’t get warhorn with next spec if it won’t be likeable with this one.

Again with this discussion about the weapon. I really don’t see the point. In the end, how much does it really matter whether the thief gets staff or rifle, whether the elementalist gets sword or warhorn, wether the warrior gets scepter or focus? What matters are the weapon skills, traits, utility skills and changed/added profession mechanics. The weapon is just aesthetics in the end.

Because it’s not what ele needs the most at the current state. There’s barely any diversity in the playstyle of the class in all gamemodes. The class has no true melee weapon, while having two very good offhands and another offhand is not going to change the playstyle at all. All warhorns currently in game are some sort of a buff weapon (either selfish or aoe), ele doesn’t really need that. Obviously it could work differently, but I highly doubt that, then there would be no need to get a warhorn.

Most arguments that warhorn is good are:
1. It fits tempest – very subjective, pretty much irrelevant
2. You could probably cast storms – people forget ele can do that with 7 (!) skills already
3. It would look cool – okay?
4. ???

Luckily, it’s not for sure and there’s very little evidence to support the fact ele would get a warhorn.

I agree with you, this is very intelligent response. If some people are upset because they don’t know to expect for their beloved professions I think Anet should release some info next week. A spec maybe? That would be cool. And classy.

Having 20 weapon skills available at a time instead of common 10 doesn’t mean you have a wide variety of weapons to choose, because you do not, there’s a huge difference between those two things.

It actually matters what weapon you carry, since the skills are tied to the weapon. Mainhand and offhand weapons are completely different, that should be quite obvious.

Dagger is not a melee weapon, it’s a PBAoE close range weapon, but not true melee. Ele could get warhorn in the future specializations, but at the moment it needs another mainhand or twohanded weapon the most, so there’s wider diversity in the playstyle.

I think ele is in a very good spot today. Top notch in every game mode, this is 66% better than most classes and 100% better than necromancer.

I think you should write your concerns in profession specific forums so anet devs can read your feedback and make changes. I think your opinion is important but your posts can get lost between other. Try elementalist subforum.

We can all want different weapons for different elite specs, but at the end of the day it is Anet who will decide, and have very likely already decided quite a while ago.

Also, do not forget that we will be getting other elite specs in the future, so while we may get weapons for elites that you do not like, it doesn’t mean we will not get one that you do in the future.

All this talk of what weapons for what elite is going off topic though, as the main point of this thread is about how long it has been since we had an elite reveal. If you want to continue discussing the pros and cons of a tempest wielding a warhorn or sword, I suggest you hit up the multiple threads already created for this subject. We really don’t need to convert another thread to this discussion.

Simplicity is complex.

Good feedback is key to getting the developers to listen to you.

Have a nice day my beloved fellow player.

You are right that the ele is top notch in every game mode, which is means ultimately nothing in the grand scheme of things. Ele is a class whose strength is PvP is almost entirely dependent on one single amulet, without that amulet they are almost replaceable. I mean any class in which players ask for “rotations” in PvP says a lot about that class in a game like this. Ele the class in which all builds revolve around water and arcane and celestial amulet. That sure is a fun class.

In the other game mode, its best weapon depends on the player staying in the same attunement for 90% of the fight.

No, it fits tempest in your opinion. I don’t think it does and consider it the worst weapon choice they could ever implement.

I’m with him/her. I hate the idea of warhorn on ele.

Why such negative emotions? Hate is strong word and this is only the game. We should be happy we can experience the wonderful world of Tyria.

I would advice you to wait for info about Tempest and especially what his traits and skills do. This is more important. Weapons are cosmetics at this point, as one poster above was kind enough to point out and he is 100000% right

While we will have to wait and see, I don’t think you’re correct. Wepon is not a cosmetic at all, especially for a class that has very low choice of weapons and lacks a melee weapon completely.

Not at all. Elementalists has twice as many weapon skills as other professions with weapon swap. This is huge. And ele daggers work pretty well melee. It’s not important what weapon you carry or how animation looks. The effect of the skill is important.

Having 20 weapon skills available at a time instead of common 10 doesn’t mean you have a wide variety of weapons to choose, because you do not, there’s a huge difference between those two things.

Long story short, you’re talking about meta gaming. There is meta in every game involving character progression and customisation. I wouldn’t expect this to change.

We can all want different weapons for different elite specs, but at the end of the day it is Anet who will decide, and have very likely already decided quite a while ago.

As per my previous post, i do not believe they have decided yet. What hints we’ve got so far point to elite specs still undergoing changes, which includes changing their iconic weapons. It’s entirely possible that the next bigger patch will remove the skins that got datamined recently, or add completely new ones, that will point to different weapons for specs.

Actions, not words.

I had hoped they would pick up with the spec announcements this week but I guess not I’m hoping they get the weekly announcements going soon. There is still quite a lot I want to hear about in addition to the rest of the elite specs.
