Killing Trahearne and Logan is what makes me want to buy HoT so bad…
It was really, really good, until the last part. The Mordremoth fight was really underwhelming. I know the Zhaitan fight was a rollercoaster but at least it was epic.
Fighting some mini version of Mordremoth was disappointing.
The end of the story was like a massive firework with a broken fuse.

Logan isn’t dead, he’s just kittened up. Trahearne is the only one that died, other than Eir, and I think it was a kitten move. Trahearne was a good leader and a nice guy, he didn’t deserve to be sacrificed to the haters.

Logan? Prepare for disappointment.
Killing Eir was cheap theatrics.
Not Red-Shirting the Biconic SuperFriends is criminal
Every single “mentor” personality in a Norn’s original personal story is dead.

In what way, exactly, was the Zhaitan fight epic? As I recall it went something like this: Fight random mobs while things you don’t have any control over happen behind you. Then slowly shoot him with a canon, while occasionally backing up to avoid spatter, as your allies do absolutely nothing to help.
Then look at this fight. He actively strikes at you while you’re allies assist. He summons aspects of your friends to fight against you that. Your allies make it possible for you to subvert the copies. He gets more and more dangerous with each copy you subvert, culminating in a blast that forces you into the sky to avoid him. After this attack fails on you twice he retreats and starts sending waves of minions at you while again your allies make it possible for you to actively stun him and finally take him out.
I will admit that last part is kind of a disappointment. I would have preferred the final move to be to break the barrier, but for him to fight back until he can bring it up again. That, and only that, is less epic than it could have been. But in every way even that is more epic than the entirety of Zhaitan’s fight.

I was so disappointed with Trahearne’s death in the story. ): You know, it’s already bad about Eir because the way they did it is pretty much the fridge option – to further Braham’s story and to give him Eir’s bow despite the fact that he doesn’t use it. Any other characters than Eir and Trahearne I would’ve understood but not these two.
Not sorry but I’m hard about character deaths. Especially Trahearne’s death screws up the Pact’s chain of command structure. In the Personal story the only reason why he’s the leader is because he’s not part of any order, which was important back then. But now? Who could possibly step up? Obviously the sylvari are still immune to other dragon corruption so he would’ve been perfect for that still. I can only hope that the writers do the sensible thing and somehow manage to bring him back through some veiled sylvari lore about how memories are stored in the dream and do a rebirth sort of thing. I have this feeling that this character was sacrificed to the loud cries of the haters here. I admit it, I have no respect for people who use the weird excuse of ‘he stole my glory!! wahwah’ to justify this because to be honest: I fit weren’t for Zojja’s super laser cannon there wouldn’t be a dead Zhaitan so, yeah. Hope you kids are happy now that a nice character had to die for really no reason. Because I’m sure he could’ve been restored by the Pale Tree somehow.
Now what I found beautiful was discovering the Exalted ones and Glint’s legacy. I’m curious about what actually happens now to the egg and that’s the only bit about the ending that I liked, to be honest.
Also, Rata Novus: That was really intriguing! Although that story step bugged up for me and at some point Taimi stopped moving and I had to restart it. That was a bit of a bummer.
Aaaand of course the way Mordremoth interrupts your actions when you play a sylvari character was very interesting. I think no other elder dragon could possibly do that since so far the others only controlled minions through corruption and as a player you don’t get the chance to play a corrupted character.
Nice to know about Caithe’s REAL wyld hunt too! I just wished she had been given more time to redeem herself.
Thanks for letting Canach be alright at the end. He’s kind of ‘the cactus husband’ which is kinda important to me.

I totally missed that. Since he’s a Guardian, he gets Eir’s bow and now, having fought and killed an Elder Dragon, he’s a Dragonhunter.

I think the second in command of the Pact is probably the one who would take his place… You know, the Commander… you? This is why Trehearne’s death is lame, because it’s killing a character that players hated. Players hated him because they felt he was usurping their rightful place as the leader of the Pact and taking credit for all your work. None of which is true. But now they’ve not only removed him in a brutal fashion, but they’ve also left the option for the players to take the role of leader.

Sylvari is definately the best race to play this with since you get to hear him the whole way through. I’m glad I decided to have my first run through that way. I’m disappointed that I couldn’t really deal with the Corrupted Pale Tree because going in with three sylvari for the final fight is amazing.
Jormag used active corruption as his tool of trade. If you make a deal with him you can let his power into you and lose yourself as his minion. I can very much see this being a thing to go down. Primordus and Kralkatorik, though, not so much.

Canach is a complete jerk, so I would have been upset if they let him give in. That’s just not his thing.
