When Anet started revealing Elite spec I noticed something: they revealed 3 specs, 2 months later they reveal the next 3, and most likely (I could be wrong) 2 month later they will reveal the last 3. So far we have:
My hunch is telling (and I could be completely wrong mind you) we will get:
elementalist/temptest (duh)
warrior/idk where I saw it but a lot of ppl too say i will be berserk
thief/if rifle most likely assassin, if staff something cool
We know weapon, name, an attack and 1 class mechanic (we still have pet) of the ranger, we know weapon and one class mechanic (the little drones) of the engineer, and A-net wants to “save best for last” revenant’s elite spec. I really hope not but I think I and others who main these professions might have to wait another 2 months?

I’m thinking the same thing, 2 months (optimistically). The way things are moving as slow as they are makes me think it may be closer to November/December release. Depending on what filler week(s) they throw in.
They do seem to have broken the developing pattern in which they followed the profession blurbs laid out in https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/ going row by row. They skipped Ranger to go on to Elementalist.
So now it’s all up in the air what order the rest will be in. But I really hope that it will be one a week, with perhaps a one week detour into challenging group content because if so they will juuuust have time to get it all in before the 3rd anniversary. Though they wouldn’t be able to beta it all at that rate, so yeah. I no longer feel Aug 28 is viable.
It is worth pointing out that they don’t have much else to talk about regarding HoT now, so they might just go with the last Specializations in one go.
Look the elite specs are not the only things people want to hear about okay I dont’t care about the elite specs but I’m not complaining going they aren’t revealing the new maps why because Anet need to reveal other aspects of HoT also they have had conventions to go too which takes time to prepare for to get the awesome stages for the booths.
I really wish they would give us something about the game itself. How is the story going to unfold, what can we except, what sort of “epic new bosses” are we going to be fighting? Really all we’ve had was a couple of betas that had very limited content and info on the professions. It is frustrating knowing only about guild halls and a borderland.

From what we know so far, it’s going to be like Silverwaste, but something like 3 times bigger. No dungeons and no new fractals have been announced or hardcore group/party content. WvW is much of the same too, without instanced/indoor areas for smaller group fights. It just seems like they are making large maps/areas but not filling them with things to explore.
I prefer not knowing all that, Tyloric. I wasn’t one of the lucky ones to stumble on Shadow Behemoth without warning early on but so many posters wrote about how awesome an experience it was. I’m eager to explore and see things without spoilers.
However, one of these upcoming weeks they will give us a blog on “challenging group content” and that likely will reveal at least some of what you’re asking for.
I highly doubt they are going to reveal much more about the maps and gameplay itself. Part of wanting to buy the game comes from wanting to know what’s behind the doors. Afterall, would you want something as bad if you already knew what it was beforehand? The mystery is part of the appeal.
I do expect them to reveal the Elite specs though, no doubt, but I don’t expect much more than that. And honestly, I hope they don’t.

I really don’t see why people keep thinking that they are forced to login to the game everyday.
It seems they are hitting crunch with the fact that every team is working on the expansion now I honestly think that it was meant to be done by now but the changes and complete overhauls pushing it further and further back I suppose if they need to NCSoft will say when to release it or maybe Anet will need to rush it out I hope not but it could happen.
This whole thread presupposes that they know exactly when release is and have the whole thing laid out in a pattern.
This is a lot to read into going 2 months between elite number 3 and elite number 4.
You would certainly hope so, most other MMO companies announce their expansion, then show you the PVE map with the zones, I imagine from that point they have a regular development schedule laid out like professionals. If they don’t have the whole thing laid out in a pattern like you suggest then are you implying that they are just making this stuff up as they go along like an comedy improv group?
My theory: They wanted to release it in August, thus the spec release pattern, but then -something- came up and they had to fix or rework it, they realized a release in August is impossible and therefore had to make a 2 month break. That does not mean that we will now get 3 reveals and another 2 month break. However it also doesn’t mean we won’t have a 2 month break.

We need to stop looking too deeply into ‘patterns’ that don’t even exist! They said they will reveal each Elite Specialisation when they are ready to showcase them.

Seeing how the tempest blog didn’t come with a trailer like the previous three elite spec blogs. They might be trying to pick up the pace on releasing info hopefully.
Well they haven’t picked up the pace on their weekly in-game updates. No Black Lion updates for the last two weeks feels weird, when they’ve had new stuff in it for practically every week, the last (near) three years. And seriously.. a Golem WvW event? Golems being stronger? That’s.. it? Yay? If this is how it’ll be for a month or two, dear Gaben almighty, save us.
I agree that it’s odd we’ve had nothing in the Gem Store. Otoh I’ve been relieved as the Gem drought has exactly coincided with my month away from home and I really would rather not put my PayPal password in anywhere but my home computer.
I fly home on Tuesday. So unless they have a flash one day sale on Tuesday I’ll be able to freely purchase new shinies once I am home! I suppose I can check and during my hour in Chicago I can beg guildies to buy me a must-have one-day thing, to be repaid asap
Yeah I think the whole dev team is working on the expansion and sadly I don’t think we will be getting any content I think August is when they hoped for release but that ain’t happening so hopefully with all hands on deck after a beta weekend maybe before gamescom we will get a release date so no content but maybe quicker work this is just speculation though?

I don’t think “new players coming from other MMO’s” was their targeted audience… Most likely it was someone that just got into gaming and picked gw2 as their first game.

Getting info out quicker won’t do anything but take time that they need to make the expansion. Interviews take time. Writing blogposts takes time. Not just writing, but editing, discussing what to reveal, I promise you they don’t just tell a dev to write something without a meeting about what he/she can reveal.
In the end, the pace that information is released has zero to do with making the game get released faster.

They better think of something to tide us over, it’s content droughts like these that made me leave that well known 11 year old MMO with millions of subscribers that I can’t mention by name with out being slapped by a mod.

I don’t know why anyone thought it would be out this year to be honest.
They are still working on getting things in the game from 2013.
I would expect January as being the most probable release window. I also don’t expect we will see any content or festivals in that time either.
I highly doubt we will even see Halloween this year.
If they don’t get the chance to make a Halloween set for the new Lion’s Arch, Mad King Thorn will temporarily turn LA back into its ruined state for added spookiness…

I’m saying that just because they haven’t given any teasers at the beginning of the week doesn’t mean there will be no info in fact we know they have been doing voice acting so maybe we will get a story blog or maybe hardcore content or a new map the possibilities of what we can learn about are endless and not just stuck with the elite specs.
