Good morning everyone, especially forum users.

Since the raiding news hit the scene, from the official reveal up until this day, there have been different topics discussed both here and in the Raid/dungeon/fractal subforum. Being it feedback from the BWE3 or discussions about rewards/difficulty etc many of us gave our opinion in constructive arguments, most of us wanting to hit the middle ground.

Middle ground as in understanding the real situation in terms of difficulty, rewards, playtime, party structure etc etc, put possible fears to rest and when problems arise, present them to the devs.

However, over the past days an increasing number of threads and hijacks have occured. A couple of people, most of you know who they are, are aggressively presenting misinformation, false numbers and situations while promoting entitlement, hypocrisy and divide in the community. These persons have their own agenda created by their refusal towards the possibility of something not being accessible for them, not because of a gear-tier, of a difficulty but because of their own stubbornness.

The simple idea of others having fun in an open for all environment with rewards, environment that they do not like is more than enough to create drama, threads after threads and/or hijacking other ones. They do not provide any solid evidence via numbers or simple arguments for their “fear” claims. Instead the result is personal attacks, derogatory generalization for the people that likes raiding and spreading of misinformation that can cause unwanted fear scenarios (see required ascended gear discussions before being proclaimed false).

They only spew their negativity towards exclusivity, difficulty above press #1 to win and towards other members without providing any evidence for their claims other than comparisons to vastly different games, such as WoW and using emotional outburst. Everything in my book makes them extremists that wish to divide the community. As it stands, the GW 2 community has a certain name to hold true to, even though elitism still exist as it would be everywhere, VR or IRL.

The sole idea of the majority liking the raiding system and the game coming together after raiding is released and not becoming the grounds for vile elitism was deemed impossible for them at the begging. Meanwhile, Anet provided us with a testing BWE and blogs of information putting these fears to rest. This situation is not on their liking and they will thus grasp at anything to misinform and create fear-of-raiding and its community.

I urge everyone to ignore these persons and instantly abandon every thread that they start the false claims in (including this one). Be aware they appeal to emotion as their tool (I have a right to express my opinion, I’ve played X and was triggered by elitism, look at that person rage at me after I’ve insulted him, this is the raiding community), everything while providing no numbers, but false claims, misinformation and strawman arguments.

By ignoring them we clear the forum pages of their toxicity, leaving place for healthy conversation from which a communication with the devs is imminent. There will thus, be no place for unfounded fears towards a new type of content and the discussions can then progress at a steady pace with the goal of giving the max amount of info to everyone, so we are all ready, in the end, for the Raiding parts of the game.

This thread should not serve as discussion ground as much as it should serve as an attention towards each and everyone of you. We have a great community. Keep the toxics out. Do not fall into their extremist claims, ignore and move on, abandon when necessary.

Have a good day everyone, and hopefully I will see you in game!

Indeed. I’m not sure anyone gets to say who can post, who we are allowed to listen to, or anything similar.

It seems a bit hypocritical to me. Not sure how long this thread will last.

“Please ignore all opinions critical of raids. Ther is nothing to hear or to consider from the other side, official news have already arrived and we´re golden. Move along, good folk. Nothing to see here.”
Your post, OP, just much shorter. Textbook propaganda stuff. Congratulations, good sir.

I followed most threads about raids and find it fascinating that Wanze of all people replied first to you. My impression of him is that he is a min-maxer of the trading post with a potential to behave in a game busting way like all money handlers but is still a polite guy even when someone disagrees with him. Maybe you should take a book out of his page, OP. And maybe I should too.

Thanks forum Jesus. So because people have fears of what raiding might bring to the game, after bad experiences in other MMOs they should not bring there concerns to the table? The truth is, untill the raids start getting done, we do not know what impact they will.have on the community. Time will tell all.

It is indeed hypocritical on some level of me in everything I’ve said, it is true. I also agree with Time will tell all @BrotherBelial and any fears and criticism (I already said that) should be expressed.

But when those fears have been put to rest and the vs arguments are still encompassing those fears even in threads that they have no place in, that’s what I have a problem with. Plus because of some fears an entire part of the community is labeled in a negative way. Time will tell again applies.

But why should I be instantly labeled as elitist if I say yes to raids. This feelings grows even though we barely had an BWE to test this kind of content.

You can criticize me as much as you like, critic is healthy. You guys said hey OP you are kind of hypocrite and more or less you are right. But I cannot present this without sounding at the very least, hypocrite. I just want healthy conversations, regardless of saying good or bad things about this content. But some persons go beyond this with negativity, an unfounded one.

Bring any fear you have, again I say it. But when it has been laid to rest, don’t aggressively push it anymore. That’s my only beef.

Generally people going around saying they know what is best, don’t. If you have a beef with people jumping up and down without anything to base it on, fine. You will not get anything accomplished the way you are doing things now.

Not with them personally, I’d say more with what they are promoting. I went on the following premise: If I debate them with calm, nothing will happen, same arguments being repeated over and over. If I do it aggressively nothing good comes out of it. The only possibility is a heavy ignore.

@Yargesh.4965 Because of a sole reason: maybe, someone will see this and say “here is another one who just wants to ignore, seems like a good option, I could try this”. Just because maybe he didn’t think of this as an option. Maybe he thinks he is alone and seeing another person will make him understand he is not alone with this option.

This would be the only reason. Even with this, yes the premise was broken, but how else could I find out if others share this idea?

I don’t know man, I’m having a great time with this franchise but when I see such passion in portraying something negative when it isn’t even in game, really gets to me because of one simple fact – if enough “crying” is made, things will change, and content may be altered in a brain-dead state – and even if it is 0.1% chance, I do not want to take it.

This is a terrible post. It doesn’t invite discussion. It accuses people of malice, when in fact they may well simply believe what they’re saying. And it adds nothing constructive to the conversation. I didn’t really participate much in those new conversations because I’ve already expressed my opinion elsewhere (something I’ve only learned to do recently lol), but even namelessly trying to indicate people are doing wrong by expressing their opinion is kinda kitten.

Sorry Lux, I can’t agree with the notion you want to post here.

They have every right to express themselves in whatever fashion they can, but to outright shun them for their opinions however they construct them is wrong. If you want to ignore their arguments completely and discuss future content with other forum posters that is fair but do not advocate for malice.

Meh, people get worked up over the dumbest things way too easily. I have a much shorter version of your post: stop giving mere words power over you. ‘Toxic’ players are only as powerful as you make them. They’re just people.

All I have to say is this – there is a very very VERY vocal minority of players who are not happy with raids at all. In general, most of these people are complaining about two things. One of those things is the “grind” to get ascended gear, and one of those things is just general difficulty. The problem is that raids are meant to take time, and the people who have that time have ascended gear, thus it makes FAR more sense to tune the raid to their gear. Countless people who – and call me an elitist if you like – are better at this game than those people have come out to give respectable answers to these peoples concerns. We tell them how they can earn ascended gear faster than they can level to 80. We tell them that there is more content besides raids in HoT. No matter what we tell these people, they continue to post in anger about the fact that not EVERY SINGLE BIT of HoT is perfectly tailored to those playstyles. The only conversations that have not been worn out on the forums by this point are conversations about the actual mechanics of the fight, and frankly myself and the “elitists” (who have tried and tried to explain this to you so you might be able to enjoy this content with us) would rather talk about that now.

The point is, forum moderation belongs to the Moderators and to them alone. It’s not up to any individual person here to say who can or can’t post or to make threads suggesting that certain individuals be ignored. To make such a thread is going beyond the limits set for them and is very, shall I say, elitist in their attitude.

I’m not saying delete them, but I am saying ignore them if you do not agree with them and you’ve been arguing with them for ages. Many of us are legitimately trying to help these people by explaining to them how they can get ascended or get better at the game. Forgive us if we, the better players, don’t agree with your stance on raids because it will legitimately impact how much we enjoy the game (more than it will yours, casuals). We try to help, we get called elitists, someone else comes along and rewords everything we’ve said, and then they get the same treatment. All I’m doing is pointing out a trend on this forum and telling people to recognize it and act as they will as a result.
