I find the new above/below markers on the map and minimap too dominant.
Theres a tooltip when you mouse over the item you are interested in, that is very good.

I like the colors the markers had before. I know they did not stand out as they do now, and could be a little difficult to see, at times. But now theres the mouse over tool tip. And the new bright colors are too bright. Please tone them down a little.

(This is the “smallest” post on the forums, in respect to how significant the topic is and how many people who cares – probably just me LOL.)

It’s not just you. I completely agree that there are more pressing issues to fix, but I, too, would like to see the colour of the up/down markers toned down a little, as I find them to visually “loud” for what little information they convey.

I don’t agree, I use them constantly. On a map like Verdant Brink they are really needed for completion. ANET probably wanted to make sure that players noticed.

Like Verdant Brink, the new WvW borderlands also have a large amount of “verticality” to them, making clear indicators of height difference essential. I agree that they are pretty jarring and add to map clutter, but I don’t see how it could be otherwise and still accomplish the purpose. I don’t think subtlety will work here.

I was just talking about those markers today with guild and most people agreed that they are too bright. The green one looks basically same as plants node. Until you can see the information when hovering mouse over the icons, there is no need for it to be shown constantly.
