Crafting system in HoT, simply put I HATED CRAFTING! in GW2, I find it repetitive and boring, I levelled cooking as I levelled in Guild-Wars 2 simply for the exp boosts, with “Discovery” being a nice feature, that I was excited about even with this feature I still find it boring.

I would like to address this issue to the developers at Arena-Net, crafting is something you have to be careful with, you cannot take away the Farming materials aspect cause that is just silly however, with the way economy works in Guild-Wars 2 the Materials are hugely expensive on the Trading Post, and cost a considerable amount of gold for the average player.

With this being said, how do you resolve a problem, that is down to the Player-Base?
Simply put you don’t and can’t. But what you can resolve, is as Colin Johanson has stated clearly before, “We’re aiming to make what you do minute to minute in Guild-Wars 2 more enjoyable”, and every day to day, crafting does come into play, and does become a big time investment in your Guild-Wars 2 Experience.

Simply put, I don’t know how this issue could be fixed or resolved but Guild-Wars 2 has re-imagined A LOT of “Traditional MMORPG” Mechanics. I’d love to see the Community help the developers come up with something that could help make this more interesting to do!

My Ideas:

Crafting on the Go with a “Special Crafting Pack”, so that you don’t have to return to Lions Arch every time you wish to Craft, for example you grab your Log’s and your Tinder and you create a camp-fire on the fly, this camp-fire can be used as a Crafting Station, to cook your food and the camp-fire will disappear after a certain set-time.

Settle the Trading Post, variation of ore’s in zones, would help to do this. Once you’re level 80 you’re constantly seeing level 80 Mat’s and these Mat’s sell for less, because they’re over farmed, and the mid level content that is not farmed as much such as Iron, become very pricey.

Thank you I can’t wait to hear what you all come up with!

If you’re travelling far go slowly, and life shall reward you. – Monti Ráypé

Press “B”, enter your server Borderland map, go to the east side of the area you spawn, craft wherever you want, then press “B”, press leave map, you’ll be exactly where you were before.
Besides there is a Trading Post really close to where you spawn in your WvW BL.

Also, you can buy portable crafting stations, but it is 1 use each and it stays there for a while.
EDIT: Mobile Crafting Station

This is generally pretty reliable. I often use the sPvP lobby for TP and banking since there are sometimes queues for even the BLs on my server, but if you don’t have those, then WvW is great for this.

Though I still love the idea of OP about the mats collected from tyria for level 80 characters should be area dependent rather than level. I mean if I salvage goods collected in queensdale they should give me tier 1 wood, metal, leather and cloth even if my character is level 80.

Yeah it’s neat that gear drops at your level regardless of where you are but it does make it actually quite difficult to farm things at mid-level without that level of a character. I think cloth is the easiest example.

Linen and wool are really expensive because you only get that material at the 45-60~ish range. Once you go past it’s darn near impossible to get it again. Having gear drop at the level of the zone makes much more sense from a farming point of view.

As for the OP – I agree, crafting is super boring. Wish it was more of an action-type game. Run to the blacksmith and hammer. Run to the water and douse the metal to cool it down. Actually taking action to make something instead of just getting a buy list and discovering/spamming.
