ANet has been very efficient at killing hype.
No one I know is hyped anymore.

“Guild Wars 2 fans are big role-players, and
we love to give them the tools they need
to have big, important events!” Stop lying, ANet.

I`ll be hyped once I know what all the elite specs are. Then I have something to look forward to and can do some theorycrafting or purchasing of skins etc.

People have paid for this expansion and yet we still know next to nothing about it.

QFT.
Also the fact that there is a beta weekend it’s no hint of a close release date, at this point I would be surprised if they release HoT before december.

With how long ago the game was announced and still no release date over 6 months later I have lost 97.3% of my hype.

BWE1 for GW2 was in April 2012 and the game itself was released in August, but GW2 was a full game and they were testing server capacity and other things like that.

I would say that HoT will release sometime this year tbh

Also hype isn’t really important…making the game a good product is what’s important. I would argue that GW2 shouldn’t have been released until 2013 at least so it could be a more polished product. All of the hype for GW2 died easily between 2008 and 2010, and once they released the trailer it spiked, then died again.

I don’t think their goal is hype but everybody keeps talking about hype like it’s this all-important thing. Just be patient so we can get a quality product.

Honestly? Nothing, due to the sheer fact that I expect the entire expansion to be around 20 FPS for me. The performance in Verdant Brink during the last beta was just painful, and I don’t have the money for an upgrade right now.

PS: my FPS is around 40 in old pve maps, dungeons and pvp.

I had the same issue due to the amount of smoke from crashed ships. The haze effects in DT and LA are causing issues for my PC as well. I’m hoping later areas will be less intense from environmental effects. Otherwise I’ll prob live with it until I upgrade.

Yeah the first BWE is coming and I’m super pumped but I wouldn’t expect HoT in the next month. My guess is after Halloween but before Christmas.

Lol….watching wow expansion trailer vs gw2 expansion trailer (content related) makes me sad. They know how to sell their product. I honestly got hyped more for a game i detest, then i got for the game i actually like.

eh I haven’t ever played wow so I can’t pass too much judgement, but from reading the comments under the trailer it seams like many are disappointed its with burring legion or something like that, they want something completely new.

broken lisles vs magma jungle
level 110 vs mastery, I would rather have masteries than lvl 110 in HoT. Its something completely new and gives you more variety in what you are able to do. A straight lvl increase sounds very boring to me in comparison.
new dungeons and raids: Once again, I think people would be disappointing if gw2 was just adding more dungeons and fractals. At least we know they are adding challenging group content that is novel and different instead of the same old same old.
New honor system: gw2 is getting a completely different game, stronghold. Some may like it and some may not, but at least its something different. They are also getting a new wvw map.
Artifact weapons = new legendaries and legendary crafting
class order halls = guild halls
demon hunter = revenant

In the gw2 trailer you can see the new enemies, you can see some of the new specializations (which wow expansion doesn’t have), you can see the mursaat and go wow, that is something new from guild wars past.

Additionally, we are getting new info slowly revealed to us like legendary back packs. I personally like a little more mystery and build up instead of saying everything at once.

First open beta on a sliver of a map means what? Thanksgiving? Hearing there will only be 3 new legendaries did nothing for the hype

@Xstein

Upfront full continent vs 1 map + maybe a few more via living story which will unlock them like in 2 years

lvl 110 (which also automatically means new armors..new weapons, new skins new achievements etc) vs professions which will be fun at first…but after ppl find a good build it will stay that way mostly. A level cap increase also indirectly implies a new goal. Having professions unlock automatically reduces that goal. Having goals in mmos is vital. Level increase in itself may seem useless but it has a psychological impact…makes ppl want to play to get max out and experience stuff.

new dungeons and raids means extra stuff to do at endgame. Not having that means less endgame and we get to where gw2 is….login..do daily..logout.

Those 2 are heavy duty content that keep players playing.

As for the races…and whatever burning legion..i don’t care…that’s preference. What did they expect….starwars with elfs expansion? ofc it will be related to wow universe.

I think Anet has said before or hinted at it that there is going to be more than one map. I also don’t think you can call one map a region. Regions involve multiple maps. More information is needed to know exactly how many maps are involved on purchase. I’m ok with this.

I agree that lvl 110 and new dungeons and raids would keep people coming back. I just simply thought mastery systems and novel group content would do just as good of a job and bring more hype, as many want new things. I think the mastery systems are going to take a lot of time (I never compared lvl 110 to specializations, I compared it the masteries). Besides, I think many who don’t want to buy the expansion would be severely disappointed if they raised the lvl to people who bought HoT. Not to mention all that time you spent buying ascended armor and perhaps even versatile infusions would be wasted. Yes it would take more time, but would people be happy about it? More play time doesn’t necessarily equal more fun. I used to play runescape before gw2 and believe me, there was more content and game time than you know what to do with. However, in the end I had just as much fun with gw2. Gw2 could also change from a linear leveling system to add more play time. However, I think many enjoyed this about the game and it is why they played it.

I am not saying wow is a worse game. As I have said, I have never played it. I am saying I think gw2 offers just as much or more, based on watching the trailers to both expansions. I also definitely didn’t lol at the content from the HoT trailer after or before watching the wow trailer.

my iq not the question its the stupid hype. beta weekend is just to keep people playing and stop wanting their money back from them. they most likely haven’t even finished the game. to many have quit cause their new business model sucks, no release date, bad changes they made. i used to love the game but they keep making it for dummies, i like using my mind to beat the nurfs they throw at us. instead they made most popular builds useless, made trait line for dummies, took away most of they original story line, basically destroyed a beautiful game for wow players and forgot their original community. but hype is all they can keep throwing out. where is the release date? where are the other 5 professions so we can see if its worth buying or not? here is a few questions people should be asking them selves befor they continue supporting anet

I’m excited for the story to continue and new places to explore.

But all of the negative comments over no release date reminds me of my kids when its close to dinner time.

Me: ok, im starting to cook. I’ll call you when its ready.
Kids two mintues later: Is it ready yet?
Me: No.
Kids five minutes later: Is it ready yet? I’m starving.
Me: No, it will be ready by the time your show is over (in 5 minutes).
Kids: Ok.
Kids 2 minutes later again: crying It’s taking too long. When is it gonna be ready?
Me: When I tell you its ready.
Kids stomp back upstairs this sucks, i just want to eat,
Me: It’s ready
Kids: Mmmm. You’re the best dad!
Me: yeah, I guess. Thanks?
