I swear I have killed about 100 Tigers so far (including Veterans) and have yet to get the Flawless Tiger Claw needed for the Wild Abandon collection. Am I missing something, or am I just unlucky?

I share your pain. I’m going to try to figure out where to find tigers in DS because the VB ones just won’t share their claws. I had a similar issue with Silencing Down Feather for Bo; I had to camp a tiny little plateau of Tengu for a very long time to get it, when other collection items had practically sprung into my bags. It’s RNG and it can really hit with a vengeance on these things.

I’m still not getting the Tempest warhorn piece off of Dust Mites, either, be they in VB, SW, or DT.

I think some of these are coded wrong. A few I got the item on the first mob type killed and others like the druid one took a couple hours of oakhearts. It sucks.

Just unlucky.

For comparison, there are some older collections (grawl weapons, krait weapons, ogre weapons) each of which require a random drop. I got the krait one from one of the first fights I had with krait after the collection was added. Grawl dropped during the first fight, too. But Ogre… that never dropped for me for months. I thought maybe my MF was “too high” (since maybe it counted as ‘junk’ which is less likely to drop).

Turned out, I knew some people who got Ogre fast, but not Krait. Or Grawl.

tl;dr it’s random and some of us are sometimes unlucky for longer

Not to mention how my backpack is filling up with trophy’s from mining nodes already added to the collection like months ago and yet i get several every day.
Only good thing i guess is that i can sell them to vendor for silver, but still it is annoying when backpack is full and i find this all over the place..

You’re just unlucky. I had to kill Smokescales for the Pristine Claw (which is basically your situation), farmed for 20 mins and decided to quit, I didn’t care that much about the GS. So I just kept doing whatever I wanted to do and killed every Smokescale I could come by and then continue with my stuff. I got it about 40 mins later after killing just 7 or 8 Smokescales.
“The best way to find something is to stop looking” worked for me. Same with the Oakheart Spirit for the Staff.

Rhyav, I agree. The problem lies in those things that drop from mobs in a localized area that you don’t need to enter in regular game play. Like the rassenfrassen Tengu. Other than one HP and one ley-line to another HP, nothing hauls you up to the Tengu ledges as part of working on the map. So if the Feather doesn’t drop in the first few while you’re doing HP things, you pretty much have to go up there to mindlessly kill the birds until one coughs up the loot.

Dust Mites are another thing. I suppose I will be running around in SW getting Coarse Sand soon, so I’ll tag any Mites I can, but generally I have to go out of my way to attack them. After 20 minutes in a DT sandstorm slaughtering Mites got me nothing, I felt rather frustrated since that’s not a map I frequent.

That is actually not true. The feather can also drop from one of the map bonus boxes. I got the feather before I fought any Tengu.

I got my collection item on my 3rd oakheart for Yggdrasil.

The drop rate of the items needed for the Specialization Collections is very small, maybe because these are Exotic Items.

I have farmed Quetzal for 2-3h straight till I got my Silencing Down Feather, must have killed hundreds in that time and they are all veterans. I finally got mine while killing the Champion Quetzal Commander, I think it dropped from one of his adds.

Unlucky. It took max 20 minutes for other items for me to drop. The tiger claw took 3 hours + for me. So yeap :P we’re just not that great at RNG
