Everyone is excited when they heard they announced this leveling system 3 years ago but what we got after three years later. A korea style leveling system, endless experience farming. Tiny experience from mobs and events with huge experience point for a level. If linear leveling curve is adopted, the time used should be the same leveling from 1-80s in gw2 and full mastery points in HOT. But the fact is double or triple times is needed.

Don’t know about any of that (did not buy HoT so far), but i think it’s fair to say that soon the complain threads about it being too grindy will make room to threads saying it’s too short. Which for me will be far bigger turn off. I’ll just wait and see (pulls out popcorn).

yes, it can be both.
Thats what happens if the content is not there to support the repetions.

for example if you have to walk 3 miles to the store, thats too grindy for most people.
if you only have 3 different stores, for the people who dont mind walking, or force themselves to do it, will still find the amount of interesting options too short.

point is, you cant simply decide people should spend 80 hours to do X, then put repetions in to make it take 80 hours.

Well that’s true too. Time will tell. For now my main interest is that i’m seeing threads about fighting x-pacs final bokittend day from realease. Now if there’s a way to rush to it, that’s perfectly fine. But if it’s not possible to do it without prior through completion of the new zone then that’s a red flag for me.

The problem is not the amount of experience needed to get the masteries. The problem comes from the fact that when you keep earning experience, you hit diminishing returns, and that 18k experience you were supposed to get each time for that event slowly turns into 2k only experience.

This is what is causing the grind.
