And another one we know the answer to: No. They don’t.
Maybe the will be a mace specialization for Engineers later, but not as part of Heart of Thorns.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

pfff hate to see anet abusing us like this. Getting a reviewer who barely played since the release to comment on the upcoming xpac, this just feels like the interviewer after the Xpac was announced. Not blaming Angry Joe for this, but it just looks like they were trying to seek another market mechanism to promote the Xpac more. If anet really cared about us they would send some expert players of pvp/pve/wvw to interview. There are alot of unsolved problems out there on the field, but this way it’s not beneficial in any way for our community…

The thing about players of the game is that, they often times are not the best for press or interviewing. Just go look at any post game or pre game show for any major sporting event. The players tend not to be the most eloquent, or even interesting. Nothing against pvp or wvw or even pve players of this game, but, your not a game reviewer. aNet is trying to spread the word and the excitement. What your decribing is a focus group, where they WANT to get critical feed back to change the system. You wouldnt send a games reviewer to a focus group any more then youd send your average joe (did you see what I did there?) gw2 player to spread the press of your game

They’re also bringing BogOtter, MatVisual and Aurora Peachy (and some others). All of whom are well known fans of GW2 who actively cover the game.
Also AngryJoe will bring a outsiders opinion, ideally he’d not get bogged down by pointless details like "When is class X’s ability Y going to get fix :_( ", or “I hate this feature so make ANet say sorry”. he’d be able to review GW2 HoT as an expansion, as he would any other game.

Yeah, and if you had a game i’m sure you wouldn’t want Angry Joe covering it right?
It would be stupid not to take advantage of this kind of publicity.

My friend, you’re pointing out a problem that is know since the profession of reviewer was created in this world. This is a problem of :
Deep knowledge of something vs outside point of view
Basically, if you’re a critic/reviewer, you want to cover as much games/movies/piece of theater/books as possible while holding up to a certain quality standard of review. This means that one can hardly expect that the most popular and well known reviewers on YouTube to spend as much time on GW2 as the most die hard fans there.
On top of this, the more time you spend on a game the more involved and therefore biased you become. When I personnaly judge GW2 content, I judge it knowing what Anet is capable of producing in a given amount of time, what they will produce regarding their actual audience and what they (and I) enjoy.
An outside reviewer does not has these bias and thus will give an opinion that is sometimes vastly different from the community consensus. Will this opinion be more thruthfull or valid than the ones of the actual players ?
Well… I don’t know. Yet both types of opinions are important if one wants to really kitten wether or not one should buy the game. AJ is not more or less legitimate than any of us to review the game, his opinion matters as well as ours.

I just hope he won’t forget about pve aspects of the game, cause we all know he’s a wvw type of guy.
Confirm new dungeons/raids/group content and be specific on what we’re getting. New stuff looks cool but means nothing if we’re not getting content to make it useful
Hey Joe,
How about: is there going to be new story content as part of HoT at launch?
They introduced the Story Journal for Series 2 of the Living World will the expansion launch with a Story for that Story Journal?
Also is there any new instanced group content and a reworking of the dungeon mechanics?
And thanks for coming here Joe! We have lots of questions that are falling on deaf ears.

Except for this one:
When will you be sharing what you learned, Joe? Many eager viewers want to know!

I believe his post was him talking about what was said. The details implied by his summary are what are embargoed.
Joe, I hope your trip was fun! For those of us who are old fashioned fuddy duddies who don’t really “follow” Twitter and YouTube (I just go to specific links when they are pointed out to me), could you drop a quick post in this thread when you’ve published anything written or video’d regarding your visit to ANet? I’ll relay it to my guild right away and then you’ll have all the more views all the faster
edited to remove overly redundant use of the word “fast.”

awesome brother, cant wait to see your upload in a week or two. I watch your channel often and enjoy your interviews very much.
I know you cant say anything specific, but surely aNet wouldn’t mind you feeding the hype flames so: On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited for HoT were you going in to the event and then how excited were you coming out of the event?

this is a fair question, the answer of which would not break NDA in any way.

I have two questions.
Given how much effort was put in to design guild wars 2 to remove barriers between players and bring them together, why is arena taking the risk of splitting players apart ?
For example, if specializations can only be unlocked at level 80 then the player base might be split between those who are specialized that is above level 80 and those who are not.
I am concerned about this because in some other mmo like wow players can be ostracized if they are not specked or gear properly. This can also be applicable with Masteries where some players might be kicked out of a party or dungeon for not having the right Mastery specs.
And my second question joins the one were everyone is asking if the classes will be updated with the new technology they showed off with the Revenant.
Thanks

Love your show Joe (butt kissing over).
After 2 + years of playing one thing I’v come away with is—Don’t believe the Hype and take it for whatever comes! Ask by all means, guaranteed it will be different to what they say now.

I’ll keep this short and to the point :
-More about the fractal specialization – what does it do. Will we see new fractals and more progression levels with the exp?
-Will we see more instanced content ( 5 man or 8 man) in the form of future dungeons or raids in the future?
-Will we see more skilled/challenging content designed around the concept of groups fighting in an instance or will it all be open world from now on?
-Will we see improvements to current classes including bug fixes and balancing?
-Will we finally have split balance between pvp and pve?
Edit : love your show and reviews – they’re awesome to watch!

I really hope you asked about armor and if we are going to get more options with less trenchcoats and butt-skirts.
That’s one kittening cool lamp!
Are there going to be more minigames in player hubs? (EX: Dueling in Black Citadel’s Bane, Divinity’s Archery, Super Adventure Box coming back as permanent content, Busted Flagon Pub Brawl.)
Are there any plans for Personal Player Housing?
Any plans for Raid Dungeon content 10+ players
Will there be more content in older maps? Such as sub-terrain content.
Is Lion’s Arch or any of the maps effected by Scarlet Briar going to be changing cosmetically for the living story? Kessex Hills is still a mess.
Will there be a better Season SPVP Ladder with Ranks and Tiers for Stronghold?
Any more details on class specializations, and how soon after expansion will we be seeing more of them for each class.
The new WvWvW map rotation and how they will work.
Any updates to commander tags in terms of commander’s being able to mark targets and the mini map for large groups of players to see when following a specific commander.

Joe does a good interview. He asks good questions and seems to have taken the feedback from this thread to heart.
Just one snippet that seems pretty relevant. Joe asks if old professions are going to get some attention as well. And besides Specialisations Colin had the following to say:
“We’re also going back and looking at each profession and making adjustments to them, changing skills, rebalancing them.”
