It’s very unfriendly that ascended wepaon and armor can only obtained by expensive crafting and 0.000001 % of ascended chest with randomly bad status.
Why not change it similar to the ascended accessories, so we can have it with some daily laurel , fotm tokens or badges of honor.

Would devalue the effort people have already put into there set and potentially tank the market on the ascendant materials. If the stat different mattered more then I could see it, but right now if someone care that much about it they will put the time/reasources into it.

It should not be a consideration as everyone can have their easy and cheap precursor/legendary weapon in HOT.

Ok first.

“easy and cheap” you know this how?

You don’t know what any of the precursor collections will entail, we don’t know how long they’ll take, if they’ll require crafting, if they’ll require gold, if they’ll require us to buy things with any new forms of currency.

So don’t go saying they’re easy and cheap when the only thing you know about precursors is that you’ll be able to earn them via a collection.

If you want ascended weapons and armor, work for it, craft it like the rest of us.

Don’t want to work for them? Then you don’t need them.

I could however see a vendor that would exchanged pieces of unwanted ascended gear for either tokens or other pieces of the same quality gear.

I think most people don’t do it because holy crap is the 2-3 hours of leveling crafting up to high level boring. However, it’s fairly necessary at this point if you want anything to do in the game with your level 80 character. Seems clear they’ll keep making stuff like Dry Top, where if you don’t have crafting ability it kind of loses a lot of the point, or if you want ascended, etc…

It’s not the 2 points on stat you have on ascended from exotic that make such a difference.
Ascended stuf are more than easy to get, i mean for a stuff intended to be used only in fractal at first…
Now you can have ring with laurels, recommandation guild, ect…
Everyone happy. You want your armor, go craft or fractal HL maybe you get a chest with the stats you want.

But, i agree on one thing, the ascended stuff should be tradable with a token or whatever, i sell the rings since all my alt are stuff with it, and it’s a shame to sell your weapon or piece of armor to 1 gold because those stats are not those you play on any alt…

It was never intended to be used only in fractals. In fact, the original plan was to export agony-like mechanics into other parts of the game. That got killed very fast, fortunately.

Also, they are going to buff gear stats after the trait change goes live. Wonder how will that affect exotic/ascended difference.

After playing the game for 2 years I’ve had 12 ascended chest drop, but I’ve only used one of them because the stats are usually a bad combination for my characters, and they just sit in my bank. On average a drop rate of 1 every 2 months for me. I don’t think it is too much to ask that we should be able to either choose the stats we want on the chests or to make the chests tradable (either on the exchange or at a vendor).

I’ve also made a full suit of ascended armour, which was an overly painful process getting to 500 in crafting, and then the time gating of crafting ascended materials which for armour is pretty awful (1 per day). Time gating is a terrible mechanic for crafting and should be removed, there is already a prohibitive amount of gold/materials required for this, so why is it necessary. If a person has made enough gold or collected all their own material (no small feat) then they should be able to make what they want, when they want, not wait 2 weeks for 1 full armour set.

Let’s be honest. Ascended weapons really aren’t that expensive. 48-52g a piece assuming you buy everything, not including things you can’t buy, is really not that bad. It’s not like they’re asking you to shell over enough for Infinite Light or an Aetherpath skin for each ascended weapon haha…

If you’re a casual player who doesn’t play more than a few hours a week, then yeah, you’re probably gonna have trouble getting ascended weapons. But you’re really only missing out on around 6% or something damage.

The set is supposed to be prestigious and add a bit of stats as a reward for hard work. Please don’t make it easier.

Tbh, if you have alts it is cheaper in the long run since you need one set for each build. E.g. you have an engi, thief, and ranger. The zerkers leather ascended coat is ~60-75g and that is with buying everything (excluding vision crystal ofc) so cuting that in thirds as if you were to buy 3 zerker coats is ~20-25g. Even if you play casually, that’s pretty easy.
The only thing that even remotely should get a “fix” is cloth. Especially for tailors.. Poor kittens

There’s nothing prestigious about something you can basically buy. Why do people care about prestige in a game as easy as GW2? lol… Not to belittle you but I made an ascended greatsword yesterday because I felt like it. So I sat down, threw together some gold and mats and built it in about 10 minutes. Not exactly my definition of “hard work”.

Don’t make ascended armor unless you’re really bored, desperately need agony resistance, or are just a completionist. The entire set only gives you a 2.5% or so increase in damage. Trinkets/weapons are far more worthwhile.
