Q:

Any plan changes to Tomes of Knowledge Arena Net?

Please let us know ahead of time.

I want to craft, but havnt been using my mats, in fear that Anet may just pull a “skill scroll revamp” on Tomes of Knowledges at the last minute like they did Skill Scrolls which I was also stacking at the time.

I want to have a back up plan for leveling my Revenant, if Anet adds a last minute nerf to the number of Tome of Knowledge we can use for leveling up. So I had crafting leveling as a back up plan.

But I want to craft, and hope Anet doesnt change ToKs.

I really dont like the leveling gates in this game. its not much fun. Revenant Beta Weekend, which started Revenants at level 80, was fun although underpowered. I couldnt bare doing that while level gated from skills and builds. Thats what ruined another MMO I use to play, for me. Level Gates. Please dont nerf ToK so we can skip the level gating.

I thought we knew about skill scrolls well ahead of time?

They never restricted ToK before, so I’m not sure what the concern is. In fact, they just added a converter of 20 exp scrolls to convert into 1 ToK (exp scrolls give 1/20th of a level), so I doubt there would be a reason to change this…

Skill points were changed at the last minute? They discussed these changes at least by April 23rd.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/specializations-part-two-reward-tracks-and-elite-specializations/
Old skill points in excess of those earned by leveling and skill challenges will be converted into crafting materials for the Mystic Forge. Items and activities that were previously repeatable sources of skill points will now also provide that same crafting material.”

In other words, the skill point scrolls in your inventory were going to be turned into a currency and this was described in the April 23rd blog post and discussed in the forum over numerous threads.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Unless they get rid of levels, there will be no need to change Tomes of Knowledge.

It was announced well in advance what would happen to tomes. All of their blogs are also listed as you launch into the game.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/updating-your-wallet/

Check the date of the linked blog and the date of the update. There definitely wasn’t a nearly two week heads up or anything..

There’s no plan to change Tomes of Knowledge further.

Anet didn’t pull anything. Everyone who’s been following the beta has known for quite some time about the recent changes.

I thought they said somewhere that tomes will only work once per day on Rev because they didn’t want vets to blow through the content while newer players have to level grind.

Necro Jesus is a thing apparently
The Zerker Bunker meta is the biggest bug in the game

Rumors. I don’t remember reading or hearing anything like that from Anet as of yet.

Definitely rumors. Also, they wouldn’t limit such a restriction to one class, but apply it to all classes.

- This is a forum, expect logic to get left at the door, beaten bloody, and set on fire.

- The more asinine the post or thread, the more I am amused.

That rumor doesn’t even really make sense if you think about it. Veterans already have access to end game content by dint of, y’know, being veterans; the only way ANet can prevent veterans from going through HoT while the new players grind is by resetting all of our 80s to level 1. Stopping one class, or even all classes, from using the ToK would do absolutely nothing.

The leveling process itself is not content, it’s a time sink for unlocking features – one which ANet enables people to bypass by providing ToKs for free.

I thought they said somewhere that tomes will only work once per day on Rev because they didn’t want vets to blow through the content while newer players have to level grind.

That’s wild specialization based on nothing but people’s hopes and dreams because for some reason they think players being able to auto level their Rev’s to 80 is somehow bad.

Anyway, like others said they didn’t drop the skill scrolls change on us last minute. The changes to the wallet post covered not only that but also how tomes changed as well. Basically if you are under lvl 80 they will give a level, if you are lvl 80 you’ll get one spirit shard for using one.
