Anyone bought HoT and happy?
Give it a while, regret will sink in shortly.
Happy. We’re actually in playing the game and happy – the others are just the vocal minority.
Well that didn’t last long! There are plenty of other topics on the go for negative comments.
I’m happy. Also note that if you get a lesser version than Ultimate you cannot upgrade to Ultimate later. My only regret might come if there is a physical box with physical items I want.
I needed this boost tonight, badly, and I’m pleased to have something fun to distract me from a terrible thing happening RL.
Well lets watch your happy thread and compare it to the unhappy thread(s) and we shall see, also watch facebook…you will see plenty of kittened people there too.
On a side note…..waste of money imho. xD But glad you’re happy *snicker

Donari, kind of in the same boat here. RL issues made me think kitten it… And I’ve got a new mini and gems to buy. But I agree I’m also thinking what if there is a nice physical copy to purchase… Oh well, we can buy that too Hope your RL issues get sorted.
the others are just the vocal minority.
Oh boy, this is how it starts.
I went with the $100 edition. In my lifetime I have played many subscription based MMOs in addition to paying for their expansions, I didn’t even think anything of it. I know for a fact that I would have eventually spent $50 on gems so it is more than worth it to me.
Also, the forums here represent a very small minority of the player base… People that are upset with something are more likely to be vocal about it than people that are satisfied
The Ultimate is the best deal for people like me that buy gems all the time anyway. All the perks of the Deluxe plus $50 worth of gems that I would have bought anyway sometime this month.
I’m waiting to see if they change the price or offer a discount for people who already have the core game. Didn’t buy it right away for reasons already expressed. Waiting to see ANet’s reaction.

Yep, I’d easily have spent that much on gems and not thought about it. And in my years of playing PC games I have bought some utter duds in my time, so I figured that a game I love deserves my money.
I went with deluxe. I am happy.
I got the standard edition and I’m totally thrilled =D
If you think about it, if you play for a year, 50$ works out to 4.1$ per month or like .14$ a day. As someone who plays a lot … im very pleased with my purchase.

Ultimate pre purchase $500 includes core game and HoT and one of the new legendaries!

I hate this argument by the way. Yes, forums are a small percentage of the player base. However, statistically speaking, the forums represent within a fairly accurate deviation the overall feelings of the entire player base.
You can usually see this effect on nearly any topic that invites disagreement and argument. Some defend, some accuse, and it usually always shakes out to be the same percentages as that of a total polled population.
So if your argument is “don’t listen to the naysayers, they’re a minority of the player base” then its a non-argument, since the yaysayers represent the same minority.
Ahah, no regrets. From the updated FAQ:
Is there a physical collector’s edition planned for Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns?
There are no plans for a physical collector’s edition for Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. Heart of Thorns will be offered in Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Editions (all of which are available for pre-purchase and include digital in-game bonuses only).
I’m happy. Also note that if you get a lesser version than Ultimate you cannot upgrade to Ultimate later. My only regret might come if there is a physical box with physical items I want.

Well since Ultimate is Deluxe with $50 worth of gems at half price. Or you could say the goodies that come with Deluxe are actually free and some poor suckers are paying $25 for them.

That was not my argument, I simply stated that the forums represent a small portion of the player base and that people that are unhappy typically are more vocal about it. What this does is sway the opinion of people who otherwise have no opinion at all because they see only one side from those that are the most upset and vocal about it.
Really, it comes down to if you believe the expansion is worth it or not. If you have more important things to spend your money on, I am sure it will be cheaper at some point. Anet is a company first and foremost, and money speaks to them better than words. I personally do not view the expansion to be unreasonable, though I was anticipating a $40 price point, I didn’t even imagine the rage I am seeing on this forum right now
Happy, since I can read and understand that “core game included” doesn’t equal “get a new gw2 account and HoT”.
Its also $50 for what will probably be 2 years of free gameplay, which is pretty great value.
I paid $109.00 (including taxes) and I feel happy. I put it 4k hours on this game that I bought it for $30 about 1~1.5 years ago, and it did me solid. I spent another $50~$70 on this game but I don’t regret it. Now I have 4k gems+ some gems that I exchanged for gold sitting on my account, and it feels pretty good.
I bought Deluxe Edition and i am happy!
I got the deluxe edition for myself and my roommate. No regrets, no issues with the price. I shall sleep well tonight, with a smile on my face. Haters can hate all they want.

I’m happy for expansion got ultimate but I hope living story instances can be played trooh more than once so all the unique skins won’t become worthless
well i have no regrets about spending $50 on a game thats provided 7826 hours of entertainment, but i kinda do wish for a toon slot so i dont need to go out of my way to goldfarm one in order to make a revenant… so… happy? …yeah i guess kinda
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
Ultimate version. No regrets.

+1
Cannot agree more.
I’m still waiting a while though before hitting that buy button; just in case any announcements or changes are made.
As much as I will defend the $50 price, I will be the first to admit that them not at least giving a free character slot with the standard version is pretty kittenty.
I think it would have been more reasonable to give a free character slot to those that are upgrading. People buying it as a new account simply just get the core game and the 5 char standard char slots
I am very happy with my purchase, got the $100 edition, worth it as I would have bought gems anyway and this is by far my favourite game. Used my gems to buy a Mini Rock, my life is now complete

I could live with an extra character slot and spending $50.
I bought the $50 version and I’m fine with it. I’ve played since beta and have been overall satisfied with the hours I’ve sunk into it. I do not need extra fluff. I have plenty and knowing how games have become, some of this fluff will be available in the cash shop at some point. For those that spent $100 and will sleep tight all I can say is good that you feel that way and who cares as long as you enjoy it. Every game has it’s ups and downs with content. We have been waiting for an actual expansion for a long while (since the living stories were pretty disappointing) and if it gives me another decent amount hours of fun of doing every possible thing then I’m happy. Between work, life and traveling all the time $50 is reasonable.
I can also understand some of the outcry for the price and this is not just ANet but a lot of AAA games feel the need to overprice extra content that is way less than the core game. Sadly this trend is starting to become so common that players feel that companies violating our wallets by selling an expansion that most likely has less content than the core game for $100 is insane. I agree. People are being vocal about it and we the gamers should be. Hopefully this ugly trend will die out but since there is no such thing as a nonprofit organization I doubt it will anytime soon.
So my $50 purchase? Happy. Need to level my necro anyway.
Haven’t picked it up yet but plan to grab the basic package. I don’t need an extra character slot and the other bits are nothing I’d drop an extra $15 for. I might get the $99.99 bundle… to me it 50 bucks of gems for 50 bucks and you get some junk free. I buy gems occasionally so that’s a deal I might take them up on.
Having more fun than the game itself watching people flip out though, so really I can’t complain about the price.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

I’m happy. Bought the $100 pack and dropped another $100 on Gems. The amount of time I have spent and will spend on this game far outweighs how much I spent on it.
I am happy with my purchace, I don’t pay a monthly fee to play so spending $99.00 on the expansion and added bonus items sits well with me. Even just the $50 fee should sit good with most since in reality you pay once and don’t have to buy a thing if you don’t want. Also flip side I’m sure if you want you could grind out gold and covert to gems and buy it that way ( I’m sure it will be in the gem store ). Again just my two cents….
I am indifferent about my purchase… I would never say no to additional value, but ~1,500 hours on the clock in the base game 50$ doesn’t seem steep at all.
If this controversy causes action from ArenaNet, good… if not, that is also fine.
Bought Ultimate. Quite happy to do so, computer gaming is a super inexpensive hobby compared to my other hobbies where I may drop a grand or two in a month.
Where I live a good dinner meal in a restaurant is well over $50. Gassing up my Bronco is over $100.
This game is a super value for entertainment time for me. No regrets at all.
i want the ultimate but sadly it is WAY out of my price range. this will make me having to save up 3 months on my budget. so no currently i am not happy… and yes i did know it was coming but my sons real life birthday came up first. (not begging btw)
Very happy with my ultimate version. Was in need of some gems anyway and got my revenant character slot along with it.
Have been enjoying the game since launch, looking forward to next weeks specialization changes, upcoming beta events and then the HoT release of course. The price has never really been an issue for me considering all the hours I got out of the game and still will get out of the game in the future.

I preordered the basic immediately. 44 Euros for thousands of hours of entertainment for the next couple of years, so I am happy.

So 399 people out of how many people that actually play the game? That’s nothing.

Still a Vocal Minority. 400 people disliking a video proves nothing when the game has a player base of thousands if not millions of players and plus most people will go out of there way to dislike a video they truly don’t agree with while others who don’t have much of an opinion on it will move on. Hence why the video only has 8k views while on view people Comment/Like/Dislike.
I would be but i got an error after completed the order… NOOOOO!
Got the ultimate edition. No regrets.
The Knights Temple [TKT] — Aurora Glade
Happy.
I do not care the cost is normal, I have the cash, and had a bit lying around to buy an additional char slot and I was planning to buy a gem card anyways, so I get 4000 gems now, the for the price of 2000, a char slot, my second rytlock mini, a finisher, some wings I’ll see in the beta and some curtains for my guild hall of my personal guild bank and and I feel okay with it,
Else I wouls have payed 85 euro’s as well (basic char slot, 2000 gems…( and now I got some other thingies and I get to enjoy some extra time in the expansion just figuring out my characters and best options to make for upcoming ascneded armor(S)
I’m not going to worry about all people raging about they do not want to pay more then 50 euro, and they cannot buy it with gems and on and on and on….
Hope they figure out they can buy the revenant finisher and the char slot with gems they CAN buy with gold and stop whining.
I’m happy,
I am mildly annoyed by all people wanting everything for free, I have a friend who flips TP and he’s pist: he cannot change his 10k gold for HoT. I tried to tell him his gold doesn’t play the rent for a-net or buy food…, but he seems convinced he’s right.
I’ve seen more of these comments…
In the end I’m happy and I’ll see you all sooner or later in the New Maguuma.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

Compared to the likes it got and seeing the responses on there you can see it’s not a good start.
Got the ultimate edition. No regrets.
Yet. As you have purchased something without actually knowing the full content, which may disappoint you so much you quit playing it after a week or a month.
It’s good to see 10+ players jumping in and throwing money at Anet, compared to the many many posts saying ‘no thanks’, will be interesting to see how it all works out.
Bought it no regrets looking forward to HoT £35 for an expac for a game with no subfee is mroe than reasonable. people are just being whiny kittens.
On the plus side due to my friend only having to buy heart of thorns im getting a new player into the game, as they wasnt prepared to buy gw2 + hot.

“many many posts saying ‘no thanks’” Most of the time people only post when they are unhappy with something. Seeing a couple hundred posts clearly shows that only a minority of the playerbase is unhappy compared to probably the thousands of players who have already purchased the expansion and stayed quiet about while continuing to play the game.
