Since the release of GW2, I’ve always been dissapointed by how Anet just pigeonholed every classes to specific builds, leaving the rest to dust.

In GW1 I always played with a sword, and it felt good. In GW2, it doesn’t, if you play a dual sword warrior it’s either condition or do low damage, so in order to be competitive and viable you need to go either MH Axe or as usual Greatsword.
(in PvE at least, but even in PvP War S/S-LB condi isn’t that great)
Worst thing is, after 3 years it hasn’t changed one bit.

After a short while I got tired of all this and left, until I took the time to check the new stuff about the expansion and saw this :
Dual Swords Revenant Concept Art

So after some research, I’m starting playing again with the hope that Revenant will have dual swords that won’t feel weak/pointless compared to other weapon. And for ONCE, axe or mace aren’t better.

However I don’t know if it’s a bug or because I used my warrior, but the MH sword still look a bit weak in numbers compared to warrior’s weapon-skills both axe and sword, at least that’s how it looks.

What do you think ?

I don’t think theres anything wrong with Warrior’s dual swords, its the issue with the GW2 PVE elitist groups that run round only using Axe MH and GS.

If you want to use dual swords, use it, and tell them to know their place. Nobody has the right to tell you what build to use. I myself use dual sword Warrior in PVE and have absolutely no issues. Conditions are also getting buffed in HoT, so even better.

I don’t think Revenant will have dual swords, because it hasn’t been given any other dual wield weapons (yet), but I think Sword/Axe on Revenant will be a popular direct damage combination.

Well you clearly haven’t read all the news regarding Heart of Thorns, because condition builds aren’t going to be weak for much longer, the condition cap is either being greatly raised or possibly even removed at or before the release of the upcoming expansion.

oh christ, I hope they will have Offhand swords, they can use axes and maces so why not swords just like the concept art? It would be weird.
I do play S/S A/S, it’s a fine combination, I just don’t go GS anymore since I find it so boring and dull. I don’t care about the PvE Elitist in a game, if they’re not happy I just leave and find normal people.

I read that, but conditions will still need some time to get decent dps, and most of the time it’s enough for the target to be dead by some power builds. Raising the cap would not fix the issue, especially in World Boss Events or the crappy damage against structures. For all these reasons and many others I don’t like conditions on a warrior.

Actually I’d suspect from the live stream that they are looking at decreasing amp time while they do the full pass over conditions, those conditions from the kitten hunter had way lower amp time than traditional conditions. Besides, it really isn’t even that bad on a warrior, you should try playing a condition Ele…

Need to get to earth attunement, here we goooooo, aaaaaand now…. yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy… am I laggi- nope, there we go, in earth attunement! Here come the bleeds, get me some rocks, these’ll do, no wait that ones a dirt clod, okay NOW we got it, little magicky jig and they’re on their way… sloooowly… slow and steady, just a little bit further, bit more, tippy tip tip tip, aaaaaand almost theeeeeeeeeere, any second noooooooooow…

Revenant having a power double sword combination isn’t going to fix warrior swords.

If you just want dual swords in general, Sword/Sword power mesmer is quite popular to tide you over until the expansion.

That isn’t S/S in the concept art. It’s S/D. There were leaked upcoming cash shop items – a standard katana (sword) and a much shorter version of the same skin (dagger).

War sword won’t get fixed ever, last time they just changed final thrust to make it more dull and before that made flurry a condition-only burst, it used to be very good.
Also mesmer isn’t really melee. I tried it :p

I don’t know, looks more like broadswords to me rather than katanas, and daggers aren’t wielded that way but it’s an art so..
I just find that having access to MH and OH axes/maces and not sword really weird. Anyway time will tell.

Well, if the Dragon Hunter is anything to go by (and yeah, i know that the numbers can and propably will change, BUT this is the info we have for now, and this IS speculation), condis might very well be as viable as power even in PvE soon. I don’t know if you saw the Dragonhunter ready up, but he destroyed the Chieftain in 4 seconds with a condition (or hybrid) trap build, the burning ticking for 4.5k and the bleed for 2.5 k. If the damage and ramp up of other classes comes even close to that, they will definitly be able to start rivaling power, and with the cap-increase, you can have 2 condi-spammers and still not steal each others damage. I think the new experimental cap was 99 stacks, let’s assume a condi class can uphold 20-25 stacks of bleed, then you could have 4 condi-spammers with sinister gear in a dungeon instead of 4 power-users with berserker gear, and still not impact each others damage (well, that 1 stack to 100 doesntT really make a difference, now does it?).

So let’s see how, and if, stacking/stacks on current bleeding/poison/burning skills are changed.

And if i remember correctly, the new stacks should only apply to PvE, meaning modes where condis are already strong shouldn’t be hit that hard by the changes.
