You personally might not do anything other than auto-attack, but others do (and thus carry you) otherwise most fights would be lost rather fast.

Funny in Guild Wars 1, I’d spec my heroes and for most content I wouldn’t even have to be there to win. I could just AFK and my heroes would finish the battle for me. In fact, my build became so efficient I could afk most vanquishes. I mean I’d have to move but I wouldn’t have to fight.
There certainly are weapons where the most damage is produced by the #1 attack. I find I use #1 a lot on ranger LB, warrior ax, and necro dagger. The other 5 professions, I vary up a lot. On some weapons, the #1 does not qualify as an auto-attack in the traditional sense — that of a low-damage attack one does when nothing else is available or to build resources. If it’s the best attack, and everything else you’ve got is situational, then its the best option in big group events, because the players usually outnumber the mobs and one is hardly ever threatened (and would thus want CC, knock, etc.)
If you could please not just AFK and auto-attack, that would be just great. If everyone did what you did, the events wouldn’t finish. If you don’t want to play, why are you…?

I would like to see you solo 60+ mobs in HM without knowing the gear weapons skills and timing combination and I mean solo not with hunches or heros.
Also you guys all need to go fight Shatterer and tell me you cant just auto attack and hit any attack that isn’t on CD the whole fight. hmmm what a challenge. GW1 and 2 are my number 1 games of all time so I don’t need fanboys telling me its ok or a challenge as it is right now.

Without knowing… the build you’re using? Impossible.
Anyone can go to the build wiki, find a farming build and casually solo however many mobs there are. Some of the builds are so simple, all you have to basically do is spam the skills on cooldown.
If you want to find a challenge, stop zerging. The more people you bring, the less effort each individual has to put in. Except for the elite events, all events scale for 4 people minimum (per section). Instead of looking at the low level world bosses, try doing the temple of grenth with only 1-3 people. Unfortunately, megasevers can make that a difficult task.
To the original point however, if you’re good enough, then #1 is really all you need as long as you can meet any DPS requirements. The same can be said for a lot of skill based action games.

that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

Reading is fundamental. I never said that the challenge of Guild Wars 2 is okay the way it is. However, I don’t need people looking at the past through rose colored glasses telling me that Guild Wars 1 was X or Y, because that’s what it is.
I stopped playing Guild Wars 1 because it got too easy…even in hard mode.
All content can be done by auto-attacking… assuming you have other people to carry you. Dungeons? no problem, you’ve got 4 other people to make-up for your useless-ness. Tequatl? Well not so much anymore but there’s scores of people to make up for your useless-ness.
Solo-ing content however is a bit of a different matter.
Just because you theoretically can, doesn’t mean you should. And so what if some content can be beaten with the mind numbingly boring strategy of auto attack? That content isn’t listed as “challenging” so why does it matter?
Yes it does make things seem rather dull.
If you want some real fun/action go to an empty Silverwastes map and take and hold a fort by yourself. Now that is generally fun.
You face different kinds of enemies at the same time so you need to make use of the whole skill bar and all you have learnt from your PvE encounters so far.
I do this with my Guardian. It’s a great way to test out PvE builds or just to do for fun.
Not to mention feeling like you’ve accomplished something by beating wave after wave….then die because of something stupid like getting immobalised by Husks whilst being swarmed by Teragriffs with a few Mordrem Healers thrown in the mix. >.>
But hey you can still come out on top in such situations with skill and a little luck.
Or go PvP.
