Apparently they lost them somehow.
Ok, so it looks like those weapon skins were originally created to be paired up with some of the armors for skill videos and the Beta experience. Then they apparently got lost in the mists between teams and never got hooked up, or were hooked up incorrectly so players never saw them again… Or at least until my team gets their hands on them!
I guess the team hasn’t gotten their hands on them yet.

It’s important to note that the skins aren’t lost, they’re in the game (the chat codes work and you can preview them in game). They’re just not accessible in game. As that quote is from over a year ago I guess the team isn’t all that focused on “finding” these items again.
but.. its weird, in design, they’re perfect for the revenant, so I don’t understand why anet never returned on this subject..
did they think it was okay to stop at ‘we lost ’em somewhere’ ?

Are very similar to Abbadon’s weapons, I do not believe they are so difficult to be redone, even if they have been “lost.”
It’s worth remembering the various armour skins that were lost any means of obtaining them when the wardrobe was introduced (e.g. Tribal). It was a long time before they reappeared in PvP and WvW rewards tracks – well over a year if not two, and still a long time after it was confirmed in an AMA that they were working on a way to re-add them. It probably took so long because there were more important things (ie new content) to work on.
Unless they just add them to loot drop tables somewhere or in the mystic force using existing items (which I think would be a bit anticlimactic) it’s not necessarily a trivial job to add a means of obtaining them. If I had to guess, I’d say if they get added it’s mostly likely to be via collections to match the mistward armour – and we know from legendary weapons that creating interesting collections takes them a lot of time. Anyway anything to do with this is probably on the back burner right now because the current priority is PoF. In fact, I imagine it’s currently all hands to the pump as the release date rushes towards us.
Still, it’s good to see threads like this crop up from time to time, in case I’m completely wrong, and despite reminders on the forums and in AMAs, they have just been completely forgotten.

Why do you think they are okay with it? It’s easy to say they shouldn’t have lost them or that if it’s previewable, there must be code somewhere.
It’s an entirely different matter to make the business decision to keep putting resources into nailing things down with these weapons, rather than working on all the other skins people want to see. Are you willing to give up other potential skins in exchange for this?

I have seen anet pump out skin sets this period that made me seriously scratch my head. You seen the keepsake weapons? Bunch of locks and keys, who takes that seriously? Might work for some magic trinkets like Focus, but a key-greatsword, this aint kingdom hearts

Except they haven’t really lost them. It’s the plans to implement them that were lost. Or, more accurately, forgotten about.
And they don’t really care enough to do anything about it now.

^This. There are vanishingly few maces in this game that I actually like, and the Mistrender was one of them. I want this weapon.
Hate is Fuel.
REventant weapons have some of the best designs in the game, IMO. I gladly would give 30% of the current Black Lions skins in exchange. I would happily never ever get another Outfit if they could just add these weapons, even into the gemstore.

Arenanet, I’ll actually start buying outfits again if you give us these weapons.

Sorry, I was being bitter and not clearly sarcastic. I DON’T buy outfits at all. Even paying 10 gems for these weapons would be more profit for Anet (from me, of course).
