That expansion has no release date or price point. (“Duh, again? Thanks, Captain Obvious!”)

April 1st [aka April Fool’s Day] is coming up soon. (“Gee, you’re good at making pointless statements of the already known.”)

So, what kind of shenanigans (smack!) will Arena Net pull with the combination of a Fool’s Day and anticipation for any speck of information about Heart of Thorns?

• ~Fake release date?

• ~Astronomical pricing model?

• ~Change of business model to subscription only?

• ~Trahearn replaces the Pale Tree and becomes King of the Sylvari?

• ~New race: Tengu (oh the outrage that would happen at this joke!)

• ~New zone: Elona (again, more outrage at this joke)

• ~Class specialization ruses (Mesmer specialization is turning into a magical Moa that uses feathered rainbows to heal allies!)

Others?

Unfortunately, during the development of HoT, we, Arena-Net, have discovered we cannot continue with GW2. We just want to do so many new and different things that will revolutionize the genre, it is not possible in GW2 anymore. That’s why we have decided to stop all major development on GW2 after HoT’s launch and start developing GW3!

I’m sure they’ll come up with something creative! Sometimes the updates are bigger than other times but it’s sure to be amusing either way. Let’s look at their previous updates:

• 2014: Bobble heads
• 2013: SAB
• 2012: More commando quests for GW1
• 2011: Commando profession reveal + commando quests for GW1
• 2010: Players became mini-sized, minis became player-sized in GW1
• 2009: Everyone turned into Gwen-chan in cities in GW1
• 2008: Everyone turned into stick figures in cities in GW1
• 2007: Reversed character genders in cities in GW1, became the inspiration for buying a “Total Makeover” and the eventual inclusion of this option in GW2’s Total Makeover Kit

So whatever it is, it’ll be fun.

I HIGHLY doubt they will do an April fools trick with this. Every year after the GW2 announcement years ago everyone thought they would do April fools joke about it and they never did. The years passed until a lot of ppl thought the entire GW2 announcement was a joke and wasn’t real. They would probably get a lot of kittens kittening for real if they made a joke about it. People spending their life savings on gems to find out its not really released then sue anet because they cant pay their rent. etc etc.

Very, very rarely do companies ever make “fake” announcements for April Fools Day. Particularly large, professional ones like Anet.

Adding funny in-game content like the bobbleheads of last year or SAB, that’s all well and good. But actual fake announcements could have a high chance of backfiring and causing bad PR, and that’s not something most companies would want to put up with just for a joke.

I’ve seen companies do it, but their outlandish ones that you pretty much know are fake. SO I seriously doubt, if its an announcement, its anything any one will take seriously.

First with the SAB was awesome, the second with bobbleheads was fun (and continous to be) so what could it be for this year?

- reverse gender was awesome, i would love that as a return.

- a comando storyline to make a return, or even a fake reveal for a specialization (warrior maybe?)

Well I want that fake Patchnotes from GW1 back.

I also hope for fake specs for the profession, evtl. letting us play as absolut overpowered specs (like commando-class).

Would love to see fake specializations released like when they did the fake classes like commando and shadowmancer.

I don’t know if everyone was effected but that bug a couple of days ago might have been the April fools joke. When my character was saying all the different saying that each race says, that was kind of funny hearing my female ranger talk in a male voice I’m thinking they released it by accident.

You broke my heart. I wanted to turn into a moa and fire rainbows.

April fools day will be that thief specialization is Commando. And then the real joke will be that it’s not a joke and the exact same info gets released later in the year.

The repository hosting the code for the expansion has spontaneously combusted. Unfortunately there is no backup repository and so the expansion has been canceled.

OR

We forgot to mention, we’re switching to a subscription based model upon expansion release. You still have to buy the expansion though – at $59.

For one day, everyone is a revanant!

By which I mean everyone’s helmets are turned into blindfolds for day.

For a truly diabolical April fools joke, they should say they will do something (or not do something)that is seemingly absurd and everyone will be like “Ah ha!!! nice one! good April fools joke guys. oh you! Such rascally scamps!”

and then actually go through with it.

If they had originally announced that Tengu was coming as a playable race to HoT, then on April fools announce it was canceled and then actually cancel it… Anet would become my personal heroes for the rest of my life because that would be one sadistically hilarious prank.

Here’s three good April fools joke ideas I had.
1)Turn all player races into something else for the day. Charr become Tengu, Norn become Kodan, Humans become Centaurs, Asura become Quaggans, Sylvari become Hylek
2)Swap the model size of the Shatterer, Claw of Jormag and Tequatl with that of chickens. Dragons now chicken sized, ALL chickens, including orrian, now dragon sized
3) Invasion of the rocket powered Dolyaks. Random event that can happen in any map, a herd of rocket propelled dolyaks arrives and players have to try and kill them all before they explode killing everyone on the map. (The rocket dolyak could then be sold as an endless tonic)
