They’re also going to be massively gated by Jungle Masteries, so odds are good you still have some prep work to do while you’re waiting .

Lets just call Ascended gear “strongly encouraged” so the ’I’m too skilled to care’ crowd doesn’t freak out. Either way, there’s gonna be substantial prep-work to be done before succeeding, so plenty to do while we wait for the doors to open.

Unless you plan on Raiding off the LFG tab, I’m not worried about what gear most people run. I can find 9 others off my friends tab with the pink stuff and a big golden number by their heads.

I tend to agree. I’ve just been having preposterous lag from my poop ISP on and off since HoT launched so I’m a bit behind the curve.

Colin mentioned in his 2015 outlook blog that raids, new legendaries and enhanced squad UI will ship mid-november, so i guess they will come next week rather than this one.

Raids gated behind Masteries xp farming is probably causing the delay in release. They tested the water with Hero Point gating and found it too hot (pun intended) so had to reverse that decision pretty quickly.

Imagine the kitten storm if they’d released Raids at launch only for people to learn they were unplayable without weeks of xp grinding first? I don’t imagine Raids would be as easy to alter as Hero Points so rather than risk a storm Anet took the decision to delay release long enough for people to reach the xp level first.

That’s my assumption based upon what I’ve seen so far, I have no inside knowledge. The proof for me will be when I see the actual requirements for entering Raids.

Actual mid-November is the 15th since there are 30 days to the month, which is a Sunday. I doubt very seriously that they will do a patch on a Sunday. So they may do the patch a little earlier during this week or they may take a few days extra and do it early next week. Me personally? I think it will be this week since some people just went as fast as possible and got full masteries already (thou why people do that is something that I have never understood and I have been playing online games a very long time.)

Pretty much everything said in this thread so far is patently false.

You need no mastery at all for the first boss. And one of the last bosses (shown in the trailer) only needs a maximum of updrafts. There is no “mastery grind” for raids. You need a few simple masteries to gain access to mechanics, but nothing that takes more than 1 day to get.

Raids are HIGHLY unlikely to come this week. They need to fix the world completion bug first since raids and legendary weapons will come at the same time. They would lose a substantial portion of their player base if they introduced the new legendary weapons without first fixing the map completion bug since it would highly disadvantage the players effected by that bug.

Secondly they said raids/legendaries would be coming mid November. The 17th is much closer to mid November than the 10th is.

Finally raids in no way require ascended gear. Ascended gear offers only a 12% dps boost over exotic gear. If you get ascended trinkets and weapons (total gold cost of ~50g) then that difference shrinks to 2%. The classes are not balanced to within 10%. This means you would see more of a difference by taking an extra engineer instead of a necro than you would from having ascended gear. Having Might and fury across the whole raid (2 heralds) gives 3x more dps than having the whole raid in ascended gear instead of exotic. Anyone that tells you that ascended gear is “required” for raids simply can’t do math.

You are correct, in response to some of the others, they have specifically said ascended gear would not be required, but since the content would be balanced with the idea of ascended gear in mind they would be highly advised. In the end if you wanted to come in completely naked you would be able to do so, although that would not be terribly wise.

Good points. I think much of the mastery stuff is bonus, ie. Adrenal mushrooms.

Now, if you’re on my team, I’d sure love you to have Itzel 6, but if you’re a good player—you’re still a good player.

I’d rather wait for finished content than rushed content on time (Zhaitan), but I’d love to hear some timelines all the same. :S

People usually blow through certain content because it’s not exactly exciting content. Masteries are not overly exciting, the stuff you get from them is pretty underwhelming and only usable in a small portion of the game. Now if they were engaging in some way or exciting then people would stretch it out, but in their current form there is literally no valid reason to no blow through them. Once you get updraft and mushroom jumping everything else is just meh.

It’s not that you don’t understand. You don’t agree. While that’s all fine and good, we all have our own play styles. They are all copacetic.

The Nov 2 blog said “in a few short weeks in mid-November.” A few usually means at least three in colloquial American English, though that would put it in late November. But it wouldn’t be just eight days, as that is essentially just one week.

So I don’t expect it tomorrow. Unless Colin wrote the blog earlier and it was only published on the 2nd. I’ve seen a couple of other coming-soon posts from them that seemed to reflect a longer time scale than was actually happening, Delayed posting without an editorial correction would explain that.

Im pretty sure that Anet doesnt even know when they are going to release the raids. If they did, they would have announced it right ?

Massively? I don’t really see the first wing being gated by any of the higher tiered masteries. You’ll likely need updraft, mushroom jumping, and possibility poison immunity. I can’t see them going further than that for the first wing.

My guess is that they will release closer to the end of the month. I also imagine that masteries will make parts of the raid easier if you have them, but the raid wont depend on the masteries in order to be done.
