Q:

……..Are the Devs really listening?……….
I’m asking myself this question from some time now… And probably most of you will reply with just a “NO”.
But I love this game and I love the attention that the Devs are putting in the game.
It makes me a little sad though when I see really important topics on the forums and no Dev replying. And that happens a lot!!
I know they have much better things to do than replying to every single post but the feeling that I get from the current state of the GW2 community, especially with the close release of HOT, is that we are lost and unheard.
Of course they do hear us, we had the proof when they blew it with the prepurchase of the expansion, and they tried something to fix it, but I would like to see more contact and interaction between the Devs and the community, more attention to what the community asks for, new features and bug fixing.
I mean, there are a lot of game blocking bugs that need to be solved from the release of the game! Of features that people are requesting for from the start *cof*build saving cofcof…. Maybe even things that they said that they’re working on but then you don’t hear about it for years…
But you know what Arenanet Devs? I think that the Gw2 community has a great potential, and we love this game! You sometimes screwed it up, but we’re still here! The Gw2 community deserves more love back!

Is Anet listening? They are if you’re looking.

Let’s just look at what HoT is about. People complained about no horizontal progression so now they’re adding masteries, which is the sort of thing we’ve been asking for for a long time.

People have been asking for harder content and raids and raids are coming with the expansion.

People have been asking for guild halls and guild halls are coming with the expansion.

People have been asking for a new PvP type and that’s coming with the expansion.

They’ve been asking for more traits and skills, and new weapons and that’s coming during the expansion.

They’ve been saying fractals are too long for a full run, so now you’ll be able to do them individually.

Anet has listened all along. They haven’t obeyed, but they’ve certainly listened.

And yeah, they don’t get everything 100% right, even after listening, but then, we’re all not asking for the same stuff.

Not replying != not listening.

In fact we have plenty of examples from the beta testing of HoT alone that proves that they listen. Such as weapon swap for Revenant and the removal of float from the Chronomancer Elite ( ).

Where are these “a lot of game blocking bugs”?

And as for them communicating more: Try reading the Mordrem Invasion feedback thread. The amount of outright hatred in replies to that post is enough for most people to simply walk away.

They do communicate more at times, but every time they do they are met with either hatred or having their words twisted to something other than what they actually said. Or being claimed to have lied if something changes slightly between talking about something and it being released.

I think the biggest indication will be if they turned Trahearne evil so we can finally kill him off. Then we will really know that they care about us!

As someone else has already said the devs not responding does not mean they aren’t listening. I can tell you right now any thread that has people demanding a dev response, is not going to get one. It’s not that they don’t care, it’s just a policy they have. It’s similar to if you call out a particular dev to respond to something, it won’t happen either.

Another thing is that a lot of important features in the game right now, are based off community feedback. Heck, the entire expansion is based off community feedback. A couple of years ago it seemed like everyday people were making threads saying this game NEEDS a paid expansion.

There are some things that people have been asking for since the start yes, but that does not mean Anet can accommodate that request. Just look at Ogre Wars and the necro minions. It took them a while to fix but it was fixed. Would it of been awesome if it could of been fixed sooner? I doubt anyone would disagree with that, but they are only human and the time is finite. To put it bluntly there are too few of them and too many of us.

Also what game blocking bugs are present? I’ve completed the PS for almost all of my toons and tons of events without any trouble (aside from the Ogre Wars that was recently fixed) and have yet to come across a bug that stopped my progression.

You know darned well he is going to become part of the Mordrem Guard, but somehow break Mordy’s influence over him at the last minute to save the day.

OP’s question answered…

I’ll add that Anet does listen, but they filter what’s said through their own desires and needs for the game. Add that to the last line in Vayne’s post, and it may seem to some posters that ANet is not listening to that poster.
