Are there active HoT maps?
I’m using Famme’s HoT timers through GW2Navi, and I show up when said events are going on, but it seems no one is home and I’m not seeing anything in LFG. Are these maps still active, or is my timing bad? Any tips are appreciated as to when it’s good to look for these things especially DS meta. I pretty much only play from 9 – 11PM PST.
If you go on the maps when it’s time for the big event you will join an empty map since all the good event maps will already be full. Join maps earlier by using a taxi on the LFG, or join maps at the very beginning of the timer and stay until the last event if you don’t want to taxi.
So I guess my question is now: what events do people show up far and about how early? At what points on the timer do I know it’s time to find a map?
I understand the overflow idea. I get the concept is about the same as showing up early for Teq. Like Teq tho, that’s pretty clear cut. You know when he’s going to show.
With HoT, I guess that I don’t know the meta chains well enough to know when (how early) to show up for which events. Specifically clueless about DS, because everytime I enter that map, it’s about to close and I see no one.

Try the timer gw2timer.com. Show up about 15 minutes before the metas start. Open your LFG tool and use the new search feature to find a group for that map.

Using this map timer: http://dulfy.net/2015/11/09/gw2-hot-maps-timer-famme/
The events you should join at are:
VB: Night
AB: Challenges
TD: Prep
DS: Start
You can either go to the zones 10-20 minutes before the above events start OR you can go to the zones right after the final events finish and stay until the next final event start. For example, once Nighttime is over in VB, port there and stay there until the next Nighttime.
If you go to a map during any of the final stages, for example port to VB shortly after it is in the Night phase, there is a very high chance that you will end up on an empty map with nobody around to play and zero progress. The reason for this is because player fill the maps BEFORE the final events start, for organizational reasons.
