Are you going to buy HoT?
I will buy the collectors edition with the caithe figure … sad that it isn’t logan. ( yes caithe figure is speculation, cause rytlock already exists)
It’ll be a Scarlet figure in her ugly helmet. Sorry…
cancel my preorder plz
I am expecting price to be $39-$60, which is by todays standards the ‘current’ norm and its perfectly okay with me! The cost isn’t a problem for me, its my precious leisure time that’s more important and I want a good quality product, just like the base game GW2 was on release.
I clocked up nearly 2,000 hrs from playing the base game and if the expansion gives me 500+ I will be happy.
Also, bear in mind the base GW2 got 40, that’s 40, I think its worth repeating for a 3rd time ‘40’ completely free updates. GW2:Heart of Thorns will no doubt get plenty of ‘free’ updates, perhaps not 40 but certainly 20+…just something to bear in mind when considering buying it.
Of course I will buy it. I don’t understand people who think 30$+ for an expansion is expensive. WoW:WoD is 44.95$ and that game has a freaking sub fee on top.
EotN was €30,-, for an expansion that has more then HoT yes, i find that really expensive.
Tell me what’ll be in HoT. You seem confident about your info.
with what they showed it has less, just look at what EotN has and compare that to what we know about HoT.
also, the €30,- is enough for an expansion, i really don’t care about any norm, expansions are worth this and no more.
I will buy it.
Hopefully as soon as pre-purchase is possible, but that would depend on costs and availability of funds.

You are coming to a conclusion based on info about EotN (after release: full details) compared to info about HoT (before release: info in ‘hypeformat’).
Well, maybe they’ll surprise you in a couple weeks. Lets hope.
Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
If Anet fixes known problems and charges 20-30 for it then maybe. If they charge any more than that or if those other problems aren’t fixed then no.
Not going to happen.

ITT: People who care enough to log into and post on a forum about an expansion they claim they wont buy because “reasons”.
Let’s see…
“We will redo the trait system, so players unlock traits through exciting content in the world!”
…And we got a lot of grind that punishes people with multiple characters. This will likely be a pain for those who make a Revenant.
“We will rework the progression system so it’s more pleasant for new players!”
…And they basically removed one of the most unique aspects of GW2, earning new skills by using a weapon, and turned it into a very slow level grind. Many kinds of progression were also level locked.
“We will deliver exciting content for free!”
…And we got Scarlet.
ArenaNet loves to show some incredibly exciting idea… And fail completely at the execution. I would rather wait until I see exactly what the HoT execution is before I pay for it.
I’m preordering the preorder for this expansion.
definitely buy.can’t wait to see more information
Mogrey Norn Ranger [DS]
Nope, absolutely not.
My reaction when watching the stream was ‘This is it?’
How long have they been working on this and this is what they have to show for it?
Now comparing to another, well known MMO’s first expansion;
Guild Wars 2:
3 New maps/tiers of unknown size
1 New class
‘Mastery’
More crafting
The class upgrade thingy
Cheap precursors
‘’More challenging group content’’
Guild Hall
GvG
WvW map no one cares about.
Burning Crusade:
1 New continent made up of 7 zones
2 New races
Faction class swap (Classes no longer exclusive to faction)
4 New smaller zones, including cities for both new races
5 Raids that I can remember
15 New dungeons
1 New PvP map
1 New crafting profession and updated other professions
New skills, flight etc.
And that’s not including the ‘Living World’ patches that included 1 new raid and 1 dungeon in just 1 patch.
Before you dogpile me with ‘’b-but we’ve had Living Story!‘’ the teams developing LS and that develop the XPac will be different.
The LS itself gives you a whole 2 hours of content including achievements(each patch), half of it is bugged that they either never fix, or stealth-fix a WHOLE MONTH LATER while denying any bug existed (Looking at you Annihilator).
While again, WoW has decimated 2 city HuBs (and fixed/redesigned them) and revamped it’s entire base world in one expansion and they don’t even claim this ‘revolutionary living story’.
And don’t even get me started on the fact that it is ALL TEMPORARY. Sure the maps like Southsun, Drytop and Silverwastes are permanent and the Breach is a mechanic that can always trigger. But it’s still time gated because of the playerbase.
Those that join in another year aren’t going to be able to see that content or get those items because everyone else has moved on.
The only thing that keeps the content padded out is the RNG grind.
This ‘expansion’ is nothing more than Living Story 3 and a Feature Pack rolled into a neat little package that they’re going to ask people to pay for. And a disgusting amount of people are only too happy to do so.
I don’t hold anything against people enjoying the game, but no one seems to care if the content is of good quality and so what incentive do ANet have to make anything good? You’ll pay for it anyway.
As someone else said, this only has the ‘expansion’ sticker slapped on it because it’s what people wanted to hear.
It was however hilarious watching Colin wait for applause and got nothing but the occasional pity-clap.
I like GW2 and I really hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think I will be, so now is the time for me to uninstall and go elsewhere.

I’ll buy the DLC if it doesn’t cost more than 10E. It’s a fair price for one new map and one new class. I can’t wait to see what will be in the expansion that everybody here talk about. Any info ?
People are aware that three BIOMES doesn’t have to mean three zones, right?
In fact it is very unlikely that it will only be one zone per Biome.

Definite buy day 1. Maybe if there is a CE i’ll preorder it.
Screw LS! I always said, if they release an expansion i’ll throw money their way to show support for this superior method of content delivery.
If the expansion addresses a laundry list of existing issues, I may buy it.
I suspect it will be just another piece of unoptimized dx9 buggy content that we will pay around $50 to beta test.
Please prove me wrong A-net.
I would buy it right now (today) with no idea of exactly what will be included or when it will come out.
TL;DR – Yes.

Yes, apparently there are 3 vertical levels to the region canopy, ground, trees? So possibly equal to 9 zones at least.
A bit ‘concerned’ it may more ‘joy’ of movement thou, ie… a big jumping puzzle to get from a to b to c.
Yes.

As an employee I hope you already have access to the alpha/beta and can play it before it is released. At least that is how it should work. It would make sense for as many Anet personnel as possible to play it before it is released.
If you are a true fan of the GW franchise you don’t care about the price.
Yes.

Of course. But my favorite thing is playing the game with players, fans of the game, you know what I mean. So testing is one thing, but playing out in the big ol’ world with players from all around the globe will be another level of awesome.

Oh yes indeed!!!!!!
I’m still consistently playing GW2 to this day and enjoying it. An expansion that adds more stuff to an experience I already enjoy? Absolutely, do want.
Unless its completely absurdly priced. Like, $300 or something. Or has some other horrible drawback, like causing all my hair to fall out.
But I feel relatively safe to say that I won’t have to worry about anything like that, so yah, I’ll be getting it.
If it is priced around $20 -$30, then sure!
And if it has 2 character slots.
No, not yet.
I want to wait until more info gets released, I have a review or 2 of people who actually played it, and I see the initial reaction among people that have same mindset as me. Also, price is a consideration..
I am interested in the new class, new wvw borderland but the rest doesn’t really speak to my imagination.. and I would really have thought more than 1 class and at least 1 race would have been added in a paid expansion.
Only after I see good reviews on its story by some folks I trust.
Or if they manage to utterly blow me away with mechanic changes. But that’ll be VERY hard to do.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Seeing as I dropped $150 on the GW2 CE in a heartbeat, yes.
Ofc i’m buying, i’m in love with both gw1 and gw2, the lore/gameplay/skills/animations i love almost everything, so much yay :-)
The only correct answer to this question is yes.
The Secksy Monk [Guild Wars 1]
Stormbluff Isle – Storm Slayer Dragons [SDS]
if i gonna buy it? Hell yea?! I gonna buy the crap out of my copy. Ill rip that thing so extreme from the shelf that the pressure weave of my arm will shatter the bones of the ones behind me. Ill slam the money so kitten the table that it shatters to pieces and the floor under it breaks and then i will go home and install it… i might even turn my monitor sideways and shake it to make the bar fill faster.
Why do people keep saying 1 new map????
Reading/Listening is fundamental.
Maybe. Depends on what they do for the LS. Ill most likely buy it and be done with it in a few days and have to wait another year for more content (ie, expansion). Will the players without the EXPAC be able to play the same as those without it? Will the living story continue for those without EXPAC?
To be honest it isn’t adding much a new class which people are just going to complain about. New maps that will be broken and full of bugs for the first 3 months. each class has 1 new weapon. That’s about it. Guild Halls which were suppose to be there since release. More revamps to fix the mistakes. All in all players will be back for less than a month before they’re done with the expansion. Then, so far what we know, noi word on LS so that leaves nothing new for those without the expac.
re·ward – a thing given in recognition of one’s service, effort, or achievement

without a doubt, guild halls to have fun times with friends, exploring the jungle, new WvW map, new profession and more. Take my money throws cash although on another note I do hope to see it priced as a expansion around 20$-30$ maybe 40$ but i hope it isnt 60$. I’ll still buy it but it will be a disappointment for so many guildies.
if <$10 yes, otherwise no tnx.
No Tengu no money for u!
between me and my bf most likely. I mean everything other than the game and add ons have been free so why not. I still for my own piece of mind want to see the actual list of all the new content and price beforehand
if <$10 yes, otherwise no tnx.
No Tengu no money for u!
Do you really think something with that much content will be that low? I mean sure it isn’t a huge expansion from what has been revealed so far, but the fact that there introducing a new class all together it wont go for that cheap.
if <$10 yes, otherwise no tnx.
No Tengu no money for u!
You want it to be cheap for all that content AND you wanted them to include a new race that provides ZERO gameplay while you complain in other threads about how they are not adding enough gameplay and content with HoT??
No new race makes me question whether or not I will but it.
1/ Skills aimed at promoting exploration (the joy of gliding again. Welcome back Aion !)
2/ Skills aimed at promoting lore knowledge (I drooled when I heard that)
This alone is in my opinion a rather new approach for a MMORPG, especially point 2, and enough to show that they are still willing to try new thing. I am in.
The specialisation system could turn out interesting and, if it is appraised, I am quite sure we will see later new specialisations (even if we have to wait for next xpack). At that time, various specs per class would remind me of some older japanese RPGs I enjoyed in the past.
I don’t know where people read or heard about any given number of zones. It has just been said that the new area(s) would have a tremendous size. As for the three biomes being distinct zones or not, I think that gliding points toward being various vertical sections of same zones, especially since Colin said we would climb higher than ever before.
Although not very specific, they said several times that they were looking forward to adding great challenges for guilds. If not at release, I would not be surprised to have raids step in some time after release during the 1st feature pack (3-6 month after HoT release. The HoT release is, by the way, a good time to address some general issues that would become extremely annoying for raids, such as condi scaling)
I just hope that you need the expansion to continue posting on the forums. There will be no need to hear from anyone that doesn’t buy it anymore.
Shut up and take my money!
Actually love they dinnt ad a new playeble race.. that would just not fit in.
so I am happy, Guildhall! I wanted that so long. YAY

Funny to see how long we have read all around “LS is not enough, give us an xpack, give us some real meat”. And now that we have an extension we will read “What is the use of an xpack ? We will be done with it in a month”. It would be so sad having no reason to complain.
The first addition to original GW2 (not counting Halloween) occured 2-3 months after release and I suppose it will be the same here. Waiting 2-3 month to give softcore players enough time to enjoy HoT content, then LS3 will start again.
We were told we will be looking for Glint’s legacy, however there were no word of Mordre"mom" today. It is even possible that killing it may happen during LS3 or beyond.
Out of all the BS candy-coated into “OMG EPIC EXPANSION OMG WE SUCH GREAT!” only thing that’s even remotely acceptable is the precursor crafting they been working on for over 1 year.
Now i buy $100 gem packs once in a while to buy stuff that interests me, but the keyword is its MY choice to do that, without buying new “Expansion” you won’t get a thing from that patch, so why would i be FORCED to pay more than $10 (1 new crap-class none wanted probably put together with duct tape and FORCED labor, GvG of sorts(Guild Wars 2)<—notice the name; and lastly a way for us most unlucky people that spent >3k hours in game without a pre-cursor drop despite countless Magic Find potions consumed and now either i’m FORCED to buy new expansion or just never have a legendary.
I Just got $100 gem pack earlier this month and will be last till they announce expansion price, anything over >$10 for all the stuff that should’ve been in-game from the start is plain middle-fingerish to founders.
This is not an expansion, this is a FORCED content update disguised under “expansion” to make it seem like they give 2 skritts about our feedback….Cantha? Tengu? WvW Unstacking? Player Housing?
PS: I was gonna say fix fishing boat-lag….but that another game’s problem, no fishing in gw2? oh well at least no fishing related bugs.
if <$10 yes, otherwise no tnx.

look here:
http://store.guildwars.com/store/gw/en_IE/cat/categoryID.67871700/currency.EUR/ccRef.
this is the store with FULL games and they have more content then HoT would ever have, you really think an expansion can be more expensive just because of a new profession, and just one to make things worse.
it’s not “with that much content” but instead “with that little content”.
sure, it’s worth more then $10 but 20-30 is really the max i would pay for it.
Yes I am going to buy it

Ya I always wondered why people fawned so much over an expansion when it doesn’t need one. Typically those who play through the game solo or have “precursor rage”.

yes, take my money now.
Yes I am.
Confused by the “no new race, is terrible expansion” people…Anet has never hinted at a new race, that’s all been player-built hype.
