I was anti before, the end of LS2 was just confirmation.
They are plants, I don’t trust plants. That’s why I don’t eat salad.
Crystal Desert
I’ve been debating that. I’d have preferred the anti-sylvari option in beta simply because most of my alts are tolerant of the sylvari so in order to see the nastier version I will have to have someone acting against type.
Since I always give Donari first crack at new content, and he’s currently doing his best to shore up the morale of those in his troupe (guild) who are feeling the bite of prejudice, I guess I’ll be aiding them for the first run through.
I’m a charr, from Blood legion: “We can’t trust Sylvaris, they belong to the dragon now!”
I’m tolerant.
Would you say that you’re anti asura because of enquest? No
Would you say you’re anti norn because of svanir? No
Would you say you’re anti charr because of Baelfire? No
Would you say you’re anti human because of Caudecus politic? No
I won’t be anti sylvari because of mordremoth. The sylvaris are the victim here.

My reasoning was they are plants. Their allegiances mean little to me.

I am on the fence. This is a pretty interesting concept put forth by ANET on one of its races, and really Sylvari are a mental “Yea sure!” from flipping out and murdering everyone around them.
Thats the biggest danger in the sylvari, is you never know when or how or if. I am neither for, nor against sylvari, but I do not trust them currently. I would prefer them not to be around me, but I wont go killing them to get them out of the way.
I’m probably going with cautious but only hostile to individual sylvari when evidence warrants it.
I don’t understand why we have to take orders from mice and talking cabbages.

Mice rofl, still flesh and blood. Much more respect for the little guys.

Unquestionably pro.
Regardless of what they were originally created for, their new lifestyle / purpose no longer matches with that design. At least if you assume that their normal state is born of the Pale Tree and free of Mordremoth’s influence. And yes, you can argue that their “natural state” would be as dragon minions and not happy curious tree people with free will, but… if the latter is what they’ve chosen to embrace, then I’ll go with that, personally.
As for the fact that they can potentially be turned by Mordremoth… well, yah. They can. And so can every other race when it comes to other dragons (and I wouldn’t be surprised if other races could be turned by Mordremoth as well, we just haven’t seen it yet… Mind is one of his dominions after all, and he’d be a pretty bad mind-control dragon if he could only control the race he created). I don’t hate Norn because some of them choose to embrace Jormag and become sons of Svanir. I don’t hold it against any of the other races that they can be hit with a blast from Kralkatorrik and become crystal minions or die and rise up as Risen. If I’m going to treat everyone who COULD become a dragon minion as a threat, then I can’t trust anyone at all.
And also, isn’t it better to embrace the minions who have turned against the dragon, learn from them, how they managed to turn away, and attempt to keep them on our side? Converted dragon minions could be a very valuable asset, especially given the revelation that they can hear and understand Mordremoth. Yes, I would absolutely love to know that the random roar I just heard signals a sneak attack from behind, thank you Mr. Sylvari.
I’ll kill what ever dragon minion that stands in front of me. That includes the grove, if it comes to it.

I say kill them all, but I’m going to have a bit more fun with it in my RPs, as I want to do a more conflict with self with my human main as she had Sylvari friends in the past and may have issues with being in the Pact and Vigil still with everything that happened in season 1 and 2 (Scarlet Briar with Lions Arch and the pact fleet being destroyed by Sylvari as well) and her duty to now be on the side with the Pact/Vigil hardliners who will want every Sylvari dead regardless if they turned to Mordy or not, or to just not trust her old Sylvari friends and allies or go on as usual and be nice to them.
It will be a very interesting road to go down indeed!
If their names are red sure. I kill Charr, humans, undead all the time if their names are red. If their names are green and you still hold something against them, well, that’s your own personal issue.
All things have a right to grow.

In the story, you choose which path, ie Trusting or Not.
Not everything in life is red or green!
most likely anti.. getting fed up with the constant cyrclejerking arround that race. But pro at the next playthrough to see the other side of the stuff

Yeah I’m hoping that HoT will be the end of there story. I’m sick of them being the center of attention. Id love them to tie up the other strands left dangling at the end of our level 20 PS. Like the white mantle in the human PS.

Don’t go comparing Sylvari to those mindless, brutish apes.
Sorry guys, just got back with this nice batch of firewood. So what we talkin about?

Yea.. other races need lore spotlight… im a charr player and the last time i had ANYTHING to do with the iron legion was…like you said at lvl 20. I get it.. sylvari are the favs of a-net.. the new race they came up with for that game. Good enough…but there is like a brand going through a massive part of the world that leads to the crystal desert what should concern charr and humans alike, the asuran and skritt got pushed to the surface cause of of the destroyers, the norn and kodan got that little frostbite issue up in the north and god knows whats going on underwater…but nope.. (technically cause of scarlets plans) almost 3 years of sylvari stuff. Whats like you said the white mantle up to..and the shining blade? Heck that would be interresting to see. Whats going on in the crystal desert? Whats going on with the legions? Or better said whats going on in the blood legion homelands? A new charr khan-ur like warlord marching into tyria and nobody is alright with that (including the citadel charr)? The dwarfs alright down there fighting ol primo or do they need help from the “surface dwellers”? The asura getting their turf back? The kodan and norn arming up to lay the smack down on jormag? Nope.. plants and their angsts and the story of the true hero of tyria… yea.. wasnt enough that one saved orr…nope, whole LS building up to a whole X-pac concerning only one race for real. Heck as they introduced for a few minutes a charr metallurgist in the pact camp i had a girly “squeee”…that was my nice thing for the past year..well and glints lair…eh.. well and the really creepy watchwork minions and clockwork stuff scarlet brought to the table, loved em…cause atleast that was mechanical. Oh well.. atleast there is only one sylvari related dragon…and lets hope there is another expansion coming who takes some other race into spotlight. Surely wont be charr cause a-net doesnt like em..but i can go for a mug of norn beer or some krytan cheese… enough salad for now.
I’m for them and as a matter of fact I will join them if given the chance.
Sylvari main and if it means having to kill all the other races then so be it; even though we may have to keep a few asura alive to man the waypoints. BTW I try to always play the villain in most games, but they never let you! I am so sick of being forced into being the goody two shoes in these games. In every case the canned dialog I am forced to select makes me want to upchuck! Bring on the evil salads!
The sylvari are fine. They have their “bad eggs” just like any other race in Tyria, but at least their leadership acknowledges it.
It’s those **** Asura we should be concerned about.
Several members of the Arcane Council are siblings, so we know nepotism is rampant in their leadership…
Phlunt openly steals credit for discoveries made by our heroes’ team with no repurcussions…
I mean, High Counselor Flax knows about everything Kudu did with the Inquest (experimenting on and killing Sylvari, creating zombie dragon minions, etc…) but yet he openly grants them a seat on the Arcane Council. Even worse, he has no qualms utilizing their discoveries as long as they promote Asura as superior to the other races.
He’s basically Hitler.

I hate Sylvari and always will
I go out of my way to chop trees.
I harvest plants then destroy them.
I do not revive Sylvari
I do not group with them
They can not be trusted.
I don’t mind the salads.
Player characters are annoying (the voices…), but I like some salad npcs, ie Sieran…
Well I main a Sylvari and she will get the first go through the new content. So I will definitely be playing pro Sylvari.
If Mordremoth will chose and call me, i’ll kill everyone who hate us.
Beware! You’ll answer for your disrespect for our race.
My piercing arrow already Aiming for your neck!
No mercy for Sylvari haters!
Sylvari Ranger.
I will kill them because killing is fun.

Well, since I have 8- 80’s all classes of Sylvari (even deleted 4 toons after “Seeds of Truth” to make them), I’d say I’m pro-Sylvari haha. Have at least one of each other race, too. Will be interesting playing thru with them all.
p.s. death to the meat sacks…
" We are not the enemy"
" For the Pale Tree"

#DoItForTheVine
That depends on whether they are the ones who sack Rata Sum, or if Mordremoth does it.

I’ll be running two of my characters though the HoT storylines. Ironically enough, I’m letting my Human Mesmer, Anna Hayha, be sympathtic to the Sylvari.
I’m letting my Sylvari Necromancer, Soshi O Path, bring on the hate for her own race. That should make things interesting.
League of Omnipotents [Omni], Fort Aspenwood
Although I’m not a role-player my characters do have personalities and I always try to make choices based on what I think they would do. But broadly speaking they’re all withholding judgement for now, until we know more about the situation.
My main character will always take each individual on their own merits. She can be very quick to judge, but she won’t assume that someone is her enemy simply because others of their race are. However if any sylvari attack her or her allies she can and will kill them without hesitation.
My highest level alt is a sylvari and even though she hasn’t actually gone through S2 yet she’s already made it quite clear that she makes up her own mind about who she is. I don’t always get decide for her, Anet don’t get to decide and so Mordremoth certainly doesn’t get to decide. Oddly enough though she’s actually more suspicious of other sylvari than my (human) main, maybe because she knows how easily they can be turned.
My norn is more of a happy-go-lucky type, combined with the norns typical confidence that they can overcome anything life throws at them, so she’s not really worried about it – if they turn evil the Pact will put them down, followed by their dragon, if not they can fight the dragon with us.
My charr is Ash Legion, so he doesn’t trust anyone anyway. Like my main he’s not going to assume all sylvari will act the same way, but would be more willing to consider…drastic measures if it seemed like more of them were turning than staying with ‘our side’.
Finally there’s my asura who, unusually for her race, is an optimist and wants to believe the best about everyone. She’s the least likely to accept that any of the sylvari are a lost cause – she’d rather imprison them and look for ways to break the dragons hold on them (maybe some sort of modified mind control device, built into a helmet for practicality) rather than treat them as enemies to be killed.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Considering that Mordremoth basically created the Sylvari, he obviously had something planned for them in the long run.
I’m not really Pro or Anti Sylvari, but I will most definitely be maining one in HoT because i think Anet have taken a very interesting turn by pretty much chastising a race like this, I don’t think it’s been done on this level before in an MMO, basically going “Right, these guys are your enemy now.”

on your first pick, will you aid the sylvari or have bias against them in your decisions?
Yes.
Definitely pro-Sylvari. They are by far the best looking and most interesting playable race in the game.
My charr elementalist will almost certainly be anti-Sylvari. He’s very distrustful as is and wouldn’t want someone that can lose control at any moment right beside him.
My charr ranger is on the fence since obviously you don’t want someone that could fall to the enemy near your base but he also isn’t as quick to choose the militant path as my elementalist.
My Sylvari characters will obviously be pro sylvari.
Pro, unless the pale tree dies off completely, then I’ll switch.
I am pro-Sylvari but anti-Trahearne. I’d love nothing more than to be able to murder that glory hogging sapling.
I will kill all the Sylvari except for Trahearne (because I LIKE Trahearne). I doubt we will get to choose the nuclear option however since this game is all about everyone getting along and holding hands.
We are not friends.
Sylvari Green IS PEOPLE!
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
It will come alot down to context and what exactly happens, but I’m pro-sylvari, maybe they were created by mordremoth but it’s clear that not all of them have fallen and I’m not going to judge an entire race because of where they come from or what some of the members have done, they’re still the same friends we’ve been with and the same soldiers that fought and died destroying Zhaitan
My Main will be pro-Sylvari, but for my other Characters… Time will tell. There will be at least one anti-Sylvari Character.
I’ll take every choice on its own merit, I’m not trusting of the Sylvari though.
The asura should have wiped them all out when they had the chance. Sure the sylvari are kind, helpful and relatively peaceful people but they’re also naive, weak willed, morons.
It’s not about not liking the sylvari as a race. It’s about the fact that ANY of them could turn at ANY time and you wouldn’t even know right away. I for one would not bet my LIFE on the idea that all of these potential enemies can resist forever. My little asura (master race) is smarter than that.
Kill them all, I say. Kill them while they sleep. They’re dreaming about ripping our skin off anyway.
“hey Gixx, do we still have that Searing Cauldron?”
“for the last time, I’m not letting you celebrate the peace treaty with that thing! it’s a waste of magic and would be stupidly offensive to the humans, use a mortar or something if you want a firework launcher”
“no, this is for something actually important, I need to set a jungle on fire and kill everything inside.”
“I…but…why is that your first choice?…NO!”

I main a human, and most of my toons are Human. I would have no problem for a Searing Cauldron to be used in this way.

I agree, and if we happen to take out Rata Sum at the same time, I’ll not lose any sleep.
