Aren't we overdue for a HOT beta map yet?

When was the last Beta? Seems like over a month ago. Stress test don’t count.
Chances are the game won’t be for another month, perhaps not even in time for the 3rd anniversary, more like the 20th of September considering Tempest is only the 4th
and there’s 5 to go.
Doing a Beta on the 25th for the whole week-end would calm the player base down a bit me included.
So how about it Anet???
more like 10-13 days ago. We’re inviting all pre-purchasers to join us for a special revenant test weekend starting Friday, July 10, at noon Pacific Time (UTC-7) and running until noon Pacific Time (UTC-7) on Monday, July 13
Bad memory or what?

If there was any chance at all of it coming out around the 3rd anniversary we’d know it by now, they’d have covered all the elite specs, etc.
It’s going to be months. We’ve had a few stress tests and what, one pseudo beta weekend? Two? They have a lot to do after each beta, making adjustments based on feedback, and sometimes those are coding intensive changes.
Yes I’d like to get back into it, hopefully with Sylvari enabled at least, but it wouldn’t surprise me not to see another beta till after the 3rd anniversary (for what little chance we have of seeing anything special)
Err … last beta was less than 2 weeks ago.
yes we are and even more overdue for an actually release date or window.
If these special beta weekends are going to be farther than 2 weeks apart then who actually thinks this game is going to release in the summer much less the fall. If we have Revenant beta weekends then the other elites will probably have one too. Then legendary weapon reveals, beta’s for HoT maps, Beta’s for Revenant elite, beta’s for betas and even more to come after. All while pushing pre-orders while never giving a release date as if the amount of pre-orders will effect the game like it was some sort of kickstarter deal. Pre-orders should’ve only been given out after the release date was given these days every other post is about a refund. You should never give money to any company without a release date unless your funding there project.
The first BWE should have happened by now based on GW2’s original launch. At this point, a late November release is likely the earliest.
Gamescom is in 2 weeks. Assuming they’ll show off a demo there, the first BWE will probably run in sync with it. The release date would then likely be revealed a few weeks later, which also happens to be around the anniversary. Maybe they’ll include the date in the character’s 3rd year birthday letter. From the release date announcement, there’ll then likely be a 1 month minimum delay until launch, though 2-3 is more likely.

What you guy call a Beta with the Revenant on a regular map no less, I don’t.
I was referring to the last Beta on a HOT map. As for the release I saw a video yesterday confirming a Summer release not Fall. Looking for the link now.
Got it around the 25.45 min marker.

Revenant needs to be balanced with existing content, not only new systems and creatures. Since the purpose of the Beta is to iron out bugs and unbalances, I would say it was a very good Beta.

Well I just created a topic about this a bit. However it could be expanded to say, when we gonna get in the new area this time Anet?

Wow you are very optimistic about the release date. It is pretty much standard to give the release date out 3-4 months ahead of launch minimum, sometimes as much as 6 months.
We are missing almost all the zones, 5 specializations, masteries, legendary weapons, balance, WvW changes, we haven’t seen a single new weapon/ armor set yet, and there will almost certainly be 1-2 weeks of open beta.
I’d say release is going to be around January, at the earliest. Which is why there haven’t been many beta events, they don’t have any of the content ready to show us yet.

Well it seems to me that the Dev in the video doesn’t agree with you he clearly states the release to be this summer.

Good luck with 1-2 weeks of open beta. If anyone is expecting that, I think they will be disappointed. In all their releases, ArenaNet has never done something like that. A weekend, at most.
I love any and all beta access I can get. It was probably the main reason I picked up ultimate, but good things take time.
..but you all sound like the kind of people who order a well done steak and kitten that it’s taking too long.
If you want it done, let it cook.
You’ll be the first people to kitten if it’s under cooked and send it back too.
Just quit kittening and be happy that we’re lucky enough to have a company be extremely transparent with giving us any information at all. What other games give you this much info and access for a new release? They’re taking a large amount of risk and a lot of what they get back is nothing but people kittening and moaning on the forums.
We have a great game and developing great games take time. If you disagree about the first part, you’d be kittening on some other game’s forums and now here, enjoying GW2.

I’m anxious for a beta test where I can play the 3 biomes of any HoT map

Seeing as live game had its last proper update back in Jan and HoT announced shortly after, I’d say we’re long overdue getting the xpac itself 6 months later with nothing else to show for in between…
Nothing at all. LA, traits change, those were mere faradiddles.

It is worth pointing out that summer doesn’t end until the end of September, so they still have two months to still release it this summer.
“We’re busy preparing for the first Beta Weekend Event” “full Beta Weekend Events will be starting soon to test larger components of the expansion. We’ll come back with more details on our first Beta Weekend Event shortly.” 2 quotes from the Revenant and stronghold test weekend blog.

I assume they want to try to incorporate feedback from the last beta event before they do another one, otherwise what would be the point?
That would be like, was it D3 that had a single beta event the weekend before launch?
Like that. No time to actually change anything that’s broken/unbalanced.
Not to say they couldn’t move on and test a different aspect, like the OP suggested a map, but I doubt we’ll move on from the class yet.

The summer on southern hemisphere starts in December. Even more time for testing and respond to player’s feedback.
No I’m sure from now on all the betas will be for the actual expansion features and in between we will get to test revenant and stronghold while they prepare I kind of like that deal to be honest.
Screw beta, bugs are fun simple as that!

That’s what you get for not reading all the blogs. Thanks to all your feedback and sarcasim I found my answer and it’s good news.
Beta Weekend Events—Coming Soon!
Though this bonus weekend event will help us get more feedback on the revenant profession and Stronghold experience, full Beta Weekend Events will be starting soon to test larger components of the expansion. We’ll come back with more details on our first Beta Weekend Event shortly.
We’ll see you in game!
It’s a bit late for this week-end but the first week-end of August is a safe bet.
