Defend the gates of Arah event is never allowed to fail so main Gates of Arah event which is needed for an item drop for Astralaria IV never occurs. Are there plans to change this, and if so, how soon?

Which item are you referring to? There are two, one from The Risen High Wizard and one from Eye of Zhaitan. I’m assuming you mean the Magnification Lens from the Eye, in which case I feel your pain. I got lucky and got it first day, but it is another one of those badly designed mechanics Anet is (in)famous for. :/

somewhere it was mentioned in that thread I think that this guy considers progress based on event failure isn’t acceptable .. but no timeline for changes.

Yes it’s the Lens from the Eye. Am considering maybe getting up in the middle of the night…..it’s a ludicrous mechanic, something totally out of your own control, and therefore extremely frustrating.
