I want to help as much as I can, so using the First BWE article posted by Colin; I am going to try to answer the questions that the Devs want answered directly. Here’s hoping I do this right and that it inspires others to do the same.

Q: (Paraphrased) How fun is it to play as our new profession as well as the elite specializations?

A: I only played (and plan on playing) Revenant and Dragonhunter for this BWE. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being “A blast!”, 5 being “Average” and 10 being “So not touching this profession/spec ever again” DH gets a 7.5 out of 10. Revenant gets a 6.5 out of 10. I’ll be looking forward to Ranger, Engineer, Thief and Warrior.

Q: Do the elite specializations feel like they are creating an entirely new role for your main profession?

A: From the one I played, yes. Dragonhunter is much different from Base Guardian. It’s a literal flip. DH is Offense 1st, Utility/support 2nd. Base Guardian is Defense/Utility/Support 1st and Offense 2nd.

Q: Do you feel the need to use your entire skill bar in battles?
A: YES.

Q: Does teaming up with other players feel more rewarding?
A: Ahahahaha… YES. Good luck by yourself on anything. RIP if you do.

Q: Do you find yourself wanting to change your skills and traits to overcome encounters?

A: I do. Though I think I am just bad, so I dunno if it will help. Also, changing my Utility Skills while as a Revenant… yeah. Let’s just say I hope Revenant can use the Racial Heal and any other Racial Elite/Utility skills.

Q: Does night feel different from the daytime?
A: Yes. Night Time means run from the boogey trees. Day Time = Safety.

Q: Does it change the way you play while night is active?
A: Yes. I stick with people during the night. You can’t explore at night. You just stay alive.

Q: Is the nighttime meta-event experience that we’ve shown so far engaging and fun?
A: Engaging? Yes. Fun? That is to be determined. It might be fun for the first month. But once people stop coming to certain zones… well you are dead on arrival.

Q: Does the Mastery system feel like a system that works to provide meaningful progression?
A: Yes. But I haven’t been able to put it to use yet. Haven’t leveled. Too busy getting bopped.

Q: Does it make you care about experience and Mastery points?
A: If that is asking “does experience matter after level 80” then the answer is “Yes”.

Q: Does it provide a framework that you think we could regularly add to in live updates?
A: Absolutely.

Q: Does it improve the experience of gathering materials if you’re working on building items that require specific crafting materials that previously had no clear place to earn them?

A: This is really hard to say. But as a casual, this is because so many items are already out of reach… that Map Completion seems like a dream. That said, it is NICE to know what you’ll get from Map Completion. And I’ve notice I’m saying Map Completion in place of “Map Reward System”. If they aren’t the same… then that wasn’t clear to me.

Q: Does it feel like it will help keep the core world we’ve built today still a place you’ll want to return to and play in, and do you feel rewarded for doing so?

A: I hate to say this… but I don’t think so. As an “Altoholic” I will always go back to the older zones just for the heck of it. But considering what I see from the more “Core” players… I don’t feel too far out there saying that it won’t be enough. Coincidentally, I think earning Mastery Points will do a better job of keeping Central Tyria relevant then the Map Rewards system. I wish I had a suggestion to help with that. But outside of new events in Central Tyria, that are based off of HoT content… I have no idea.

Q: (Paraphrasing) Any feedback on changes to Stronghold PvP and the Revenant profession since the last Beta? (For the sake of this thread, a quick summary will suffice. Go to the designated forums for details!)

A: Note that this is my first Beta Event. I haven’t gotten to Stronghold PvP as I play mostly WvW and EotM. As for Revenant… it feels MUCH more different than I I was expecting. That’s not inherently bad though. What confuses me more then anything is “choice” with Revenant. If you are DPS, why use anything outside of Shiro’s Legend? You kind of don’t. Also, I’d love a new ranged weapon. Hammer as a ranged weapon… kinda sucks. Sorry. Maybe Racial Skills will fill this void though? We’ll see.

I hope that this helps anyone, whether it be in the community or the development team themselves. Even though we paid to be in the Beta Event, I am honestly honored to be involved and to have an effect on how HoT turns out.

Now tell me what is Thief’s Elite Profession weapon.

I don’t like bumping my own stuff, but maybe this bump will make sure a dev read it this time or something. :p

You are confused about Map Reward system and Map Completion. Map Rewards are single (or so) items/mats that you are awarded for doing content in a particular map. The legend (available on the World Map) shows you what the rewards will be. Most players feel the rewards ‘drop’ at the completion of every other event/JP/mini-dungeon, etc.

Some feel the rewards are a bit too small, and many feel a notification of having been awarded the reward is needed.
