Battle of Tarir
Is it actually daily? I thought it was just limited to each event cycle.
That is also 5 more useful chests than the other maps….
I’ve done Tarir about a dozen times since the patch that changed it and people do it all the time. I can guarantee you there is no time of day that it comes up that it’s not being done by a group.
You’re less likely to get into an organized map now, because it’s not happening automatically on every map. You have to get there a bit early, open up the LFG tool and get to a map that’s doing it.
When doing that I get on maps that have plenty of people doing it. The only time it ever fails is when some side burns before they’re supposed to, just like it used to.

Yeah, you can do it twice in a reset period and get loot twice. It’s effectively a counter that says “you may only open X chests after killing the vine”, where X is the number found on a single map.
Not sure how bad your luck is but i did the meta quite a few time now bit yes i’d agree to make the cd on the chest last for 2 hours or how much it takes for the meta to get to this part again only because it makes sense.
it is not daily its simply once per meta you can do as many times as you want the meta and you will get all the chest inside tarrir at least once per meta.

…and just to cycle around: I needed 600 aurillium for a recipe. I did the meta twice, back to back. I looted all chests after each success. There was no limit beyond that.
So, as said: now you get one round of chest looting for one meta completion.
I think it was a good decision of ANET to patch out the multiloot thing with Battle of Tarir. What wasn’t a good idea in the slightest was make the chests in Tarir daily. Why?
Log in almost any time of the day the event is on. This map is dead. Nobody plays it anymore because it’s not worth the effort.
Either ANET is gonna have to make the chests just event-tied and NOT daily OR they have to offer useful things in the chests.
I agree the multiloot was broken but here’s the thing.
People do chestfarm on Silver Wastes when they don’t really care and just wanna farm.
People did multiloot on Auric Basin because the normal loot afterwards just wasn’t worth doing it every time BUT you could at least do it any time of the day and get loot.My point is, it doesn’t matter if you offer 26 chests when only 5 of them offer anything useful. That’s why people did the multiloot thing in the first place.
A shame because HoT was supposed to represent the new way of handling maps and ANET has not only made them slightly easier over time, the rewards are a joke. Why force ourselves through more trouble if the pay in the end isn’t worth it?
And what of the next expansion? If you cannot keep HoT alive for a year, let alone what to expect how they are gonna handle the next one >_>
As others have said, AB isn’t dead. It’s still the easiest and most rewarding HoT meta and it’s still easy to find organized maps for it. It’s just less likely that you will ALWAYS find yourself on a meta map because all of the shards aren’t being strung together as part of a multimap group spanning every available instance.
Also, what are you talking about with the chests? There is no daily cap that I’m aware of. When you successfully complete the meta, you will always be able to loot all of the chests beneath Tarir. You just can’t jump maps and loot them two, three, or ten times like you could with multimap.

There is an extremely persistent notion that ANet have significantly reduced rewards for AB below what they were when MM was unknown: daily chest limits, being unable to open all the chests after a meta, reduced drop rates from chests, etc.
I think it’s the same overreaction you see every time a skill gets a small damage adjustment, and people declare dramatically, “oh, my, thou hast shot my ele through the heart, and nerfed it unto the ground! it’s not even raid meta any more and I should just delete it, zogmomg!”.
I was around AB all day yesterday doing the masks, the dead bodies and the altar things for some achievement points. Everytime the Meta would start i joined and got to loot ALL chests.
Those saying its limited to once a day, or any other bull crap, please, if you dont know what you’re talking about dont say anything.
P.S.: LFG will almost find you a nice populated map.
I did the meta twice today, first time it was successful, the second it failed. I could loot all the chests the first time, the second time I started looting and the “medium” chests were already opened.
Crazy idea guys: there may be bugs here. It may have been the same map instance, maybe it didn’t reset properly, maybe something to do with the failed attempt, whatever.

I ran into that on my one and only multiloot run the day before the patch. Didn’t really make much difference since I only had enough time for two more anyway.

That’s not a bug. If Tarir fails, then the only chests that will be available to loot are the small chests, and you’ll be limited in how much of the underground vault you can enter. That’s the penalty for failure.
Failing octovine reduces the amount of chests you have access to but it doesn’t make the chest that you do get access to appear as already opened.

If the Battle for Tarir fails you don’t get the large Grand Exalted Chests, I know that.
However, you do get access to a number of small Exalted Chests and medium Great Exalted Chests, the number depends on how well the attempt went, in our case we killed three of the four Octovines so a number of rooms were unlocked and in those I could see the small and medium chests. I could loot the small chests but the medium chests looked like they were already looted (they were already open).
Anyone noticed that the Priory Arcanist NPC who normally stands behind the Bramble begone box at North isnt always there.
Was there yesterday, but isnt there today.
Must take coffer breaks.
