What class do you think is the best to the worst soloing HoT mobs and events?

1. Druid
2. Reaper
3. Herald
4. Warrior/berserker
5. Scrapper
6. Tempest
7. Daredevil

I didn’t include mesmer or guardian as I have no real experience with either there

Reapers and druids are pretty good for soloing. Out of all the professions I play, those are the ones I find easiest. Next would be Dragonhunter for me, though it’s not on my list. I also do really well on either mesmer or chronomancer, but that’s because it’s one of my mains.

Mesmer/Chrono is often easy-sauce, since most of the more dangerous mobs are AoE threats and redirecting aggro to clones isn’t too difficult.

Many alts; handle it!

I raised a necro in hot on a toaster when my gaming rig died. Running around in greens and using whatever dropped at 10 fps I had no problem doing dark harvest collection. Actually it was insanely easy and I had 0 gear on him. I wouldn’t have even thought about bringing a zerker guard into hot until my new rig arrived. The 11k hp would be a death sentence. Farming smoke scales for the claw? Not going to happen. Necros 40k infinite hp/shroud makes any pve face roll easy.

I found the Daredevil much easier than the Herald.

Ah, I can see how this poll’s results might be biased toward the profession a player is most skilled and comfortable with. Might want to rephrase the question to something like, “Of your main(s), which is best in HoT solo roam? Of all, including alt’s, which is best solo roaming?” then ask the same about group / zerg events.

If it’s just between my mains, I have the easiest time solo roaming with the following, in order of easiest to difficult :

1. Dragonhunter
2. Tempest
3. Chronomancer
4. Berserker
5. Scrapper
6. Herald

But from what i’ve seen from my mates, Reapers and Druids are the easiest since they have minions to tank for you and are tanky.

IMO familiarity with the class matters a lot in this case. My Scrapperkittenis a bit rusty, so i find it harder using her in HoT areas. However, i believe the class has the requisite tools to solo well. On the other hand, i hear people complaining about playing tempest or chrono in the jungle, while I find them easy.

Daredevil is my strongest open world HoT class. The class is faster, hits harder, and avoids more damage than any of my others.

Minion master reaper was the easiest for me, followed pretty closely by druid, and tempest was the hardest (to be fair I admit I’m not very good on elementalist in general).

If I were to go with “best” that didn’t include “easiest”, then I’d go with tempest. For a few reasons.

#1: Maximum damage. Except for the enemies that are made specifically to be tanky, most of the enemies in HoT are pretty glass. You can kill an entire swarm of mordrem guard with a single air overload. Which is good, because the events will throw out a sizeable number of enemies at you, even while solo. Against the bigger enemies, you’ll still have a massive damage output, via ice bow and meteor storm.

#2: Maximum AoE. You may have noticed this, but these enemies don’t clump together like the mobs in overworld tyria do. They’re a bit smarter than that. And so, you need to do a large amount of damage in a wide area to successfully defend an objective. The tempest has wide arcs, persisting damage fields, and excellent range, which allows them to fight in a very large area effective.

#3: Maximum Range. Staff tempest can fight at nearly full power at 1200 distance, which allows you to hang back and do a lot of damage if you’re in danger. It also means you can take down some enemies before they actually reach you.

#4: Utility. The wide array of skills means that, for nearly any circumstance, you’ll have what you need. Reflects, blind fields, bar breaking, blocks, whatever it is you’ve got it.

You just have to be careful. A flopper from nowhere can down you pretty fast.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

I’m finding Tempest easy to solo with in some cases, simply due to epic DPS.

I loved my Condi Bleed Druid during my time through the HoT zones, i. e. until the end of Tangled Depth story. I played her first as the standard power ranger but decided to switch to Condi Druid thanks to Kazi’s Guide https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/PvE-WvW-Bleed-druid. Don’t ask me why but suddenly the enemies dropped like flies (well… faster than before). I also thought that my Condition Reaper was “stronger” than the Power build. Mainly as I used Power when I had collected the necessary HoT hero points and felt in HoT despite pets quite fragile (due to my low skills).

From the classes I play.

1) Dragonhunter – Ranged AOE CC and AOE high damage traps makes most HoT mobs a joke, spike damage is still excellent, especially in full zerk. It might be woefully poor at sustaining in PvP, but it’s excellent in the jungle.

2) Tempest – Overload air, enough said. Just don’t get hit by anything big if you’re running zerker.

3) Chronomancer – Kiting and clones for days, can take a while to kill champs if solo though, I use a rabid condi build in open world. Stock mesmer lacks in clone spam vs chrono as well as not be able to use shield so requires more kiting to compensate.

4) Berzerker/Warrior – PewPewPew into bashbashsmash, lots of stability and healing from adrenal health make most HoT mobs easy to deal with. Even with full zerker you shouldn’t be dying unless you’re caught afk.

5) Herald/Revenant – Survives just as well as other classes in the open world jungle, but I feel it lacks a bit in comparison vs larger numbers of vet chak/mushroom/frogs. Still, if you watch what you pull, shouldn’t be many issues.

Classes I’ve heard are great are Ranger/Druid and Necro/Reaper mostly because the minions/pet tanks everything for you.

I have 9 alts, one of each class, and soloed them all to elite . Ranged classes are easier than melee, classes with “distractors” (pets, clones, etc) are easier than those without, and AOE vs group are easier than massive single target types. My necro is all 3 of those as well as being nearly unkillable, so I’d give a slight nod to her. They all wear berserker gear, but with the expansion I got the necro and the engineer a set of viper gear too.

I found base condi ranger w/o druid and reaper to be very good at HoT solo play.
