Beta Test--What profession to play?
new revenant for me unless I get to create multiple beta character
Death is Energy [DIE] – Gandara EU
Australia
Rev all the way, I mean its the new SHINY after all
Im curious about the use of debilitation in combat in the future. So id have to request the condi-necromancer. A build that relies not on pure damage or the popping of cooldowns but on soft cc and attrition in order to survive is about as far from the current meta as you can get. Id like to see if there abilities are more useful against the future mobs.
I’m going to play Revenant. Love love LOVE the fact that the hammer is a ranged weapon on revs. The main reason I don’t use things like sword/mace/hammer is the fact that they have such a short range I find it difficult to hit anything.
And I think I’m going to play Revenant a lot when HoT comes out, so definitely rev.
I’m pretty sure you’ll see like 90% of people playing revenant XD.
Horde of revenants I tell ya.
I know, that’s why I’m asking the crowd for ideas of what I should play alongside all your numerous, numerous Revenants. ;-) I’m leaning towards the Condimancer idea myself, as they do well versus Triple Trouble husks, etc.

Depends on armor/weapon stats that will be available. If it is celestial only then Revenant. But if we can choose stats I will roll ele.

This and the mesmer for me
Beta Test--What profession to play?

I’m going to guess your Beta char will be given gear with a fixed set of stats and either no traits or a fixed set of traits. If so, it means you won’t be able to see how it plays with the gear/traits of your choice or truly see how the old professions interact with the new material.
Revenant is the best choice imo. Get to try out the new skills.
ANet may give it to you.
I’m definitely trying out the Revenant.
Your ideas?
Really it comes down to running a profession/build you know well enough to spot small changes.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

This first test is a stress test. The best data you can give ANet is by simply logging in
I’ll try out revenant just because it is there, but I do want to try thief as well and see how effective the CC skills will be with the new defiance.
I’m sure I’ll do Revenant in the first session. Assuming the character is wiped and we restart in the second session (and if I can play the second session without my husband getting unhappy I ditched a Tuesday evening), I think it would be a good idea to try a different profession to see how it handles.
So probably Mesmer, right now I use it most in dungeons and LS achieves so I know it best and am more likely to spot issues.
Will specialisations be in the beta?
Officer of [DEX] Deus Ex Machina Eu and [Fus] Fus Ro Dâh
Ruins of Surmia
There’s a thread on that, and someone made a cogent point that it’s unlikely as all heck they’d put in specializations before giving us a blog on them. Most likely it will be the same demo as seen at PAX and REZZED, just with a ton more people playing at once — hence “stress” test.
You could try the new Thief Spec: The lawyer.
Yes that’s right, The Lawyer. The thief will hang up his/her daggers for sleazy underhanded tactics of litigation to smite their foes with manipulated justice!

So its a hard counter to the Guardian’s “Prosecutor” specialization?

I think I’m actually going to play either a ranger or an elementalist, which are my main two. The beta is so short I don’t feel like I’d have time to get the hang of a new profession and see all the new content. And I’d rather focus on new content.
