I got in the beta for the first time today after purchasing the game a week ago. My gf and I went around to the different places and played with the revenant, as Norns.

I liked the charecter adapability, and that we can use lots of weapons and gear this time. I think some of the items do need some tweaks. But I’m sure that will come on patches.

The only thing that concerned me was these Masteries. The way the map is designed its difficult to actually get to the few events that are on the map, and I’ve found myself grinding to only get just over half way on the Mastery bar.

I get these Mastery points, I’ve got 2 available. But can’t use them to unlock anything with gliding. So my gliding is at 0/6).

Also these mushrooms bounce things. Apparently that needs to be unlocked too. But can’t be unlocked until gliding is unlocked.

So before I can unlock the mushroom things I have to have 2 levels of exp?

I hope that we’ll be able to get Masteries by doing ANY event in the game when it comes out fully. Because only getting them from the Beta map is very grindy.

I just wish there was more events to do.

In response to the last paragraph of your post – When HoT launches the masteries will be seperated into 2 ‘groups’: Heart of Maguuma (Gliding, Mushrooms, Lore, etc.) and Central Tyria (Legendary Precursors, Pact Commander, etc.) and you can only level each type of Mastery track based on it’s location, i.e. Heart of Maguuma will only be able to be leveled in the Heart of Maguuma maps, aka the ones that come out with the expansion (and presumably Dry Top and Silverwastes). Similarly, Central Tyria lines can only be leveled in the Central Tyria maps, aka all the other PvE maps that Heart of Maguuma doesn’t cover. Hope this helps!
